JUDY. LONDON. 1969. has been selected as TJGE Album Of The Month, and director, Jaycub, has made a video utilizing Judy's opening song from the album featuring remarkable video footage of Judy out and about in London in early 1969, as well as rare photos of Judy onstage at the Talk Of The Town where the album was recorded. Garland's husband, Mickey Deans, and singer Johnnie Ray, can also be seen. By the way, remember Easter Eggs on DVD's? We do too ;) hint.

She didn't have to live that life. At some point, people make the choice. Acting as if it's everyone else's responsibility for her sad story is ridiculous. She was not a child.

Nick Doe You have to remember that admitting that you had an addiction problem in the 60’s was not acceptable, it just wasn’t done! And there was no rehab available. She literally had nowhere to go for help, and her entourage oils never have dreamed of admitting to the world that she has a problem. Plus, they created it. So very, terribly, sad.

Almost everyone says that about this time in her life, but she doesn’t look that bad to me. Maybe it’s just because I love her so much, but I just don’t see it. However, I feel very sad when I see her because of all the men who made so much money off her, and the ones who just outright stole from her. If only someone had taught her how to handle her own money, and not to trust anyone. She should not have died broke! Why didn’t the countless millionaires who loved her just buy her a house and set up a trust fund that no one could touch. They all knew her situation! It breaks my heart.

If only Ms. Judy Garland married a person who provided for her instead of the other way around she could have lived in her eighties glamorously doing what she do best being a great mother and singing for leisure not for torture. one squandered her earnings away in the tracks and this last one pushed drugs and drove her literally to death. Ms. Judy Garland is the most honest, loving and sincere performer the world ever had... this is why millions love her through the ages so much more than she can imagine!

There was no one like her. I've always known and loved her, but until I saw Zellweger's fantastic performance, I really didn't realize how difficult Judy's life really was. I saw her on stage at the Palace Theater in 1951. After an exciting set she said to us (the audience) that she was tired, and if we didn't mind, could she kick off her shoes and relax. Of course, everyone applauded, and she did -- she kicked off her shoes and sat down on the stage letting her legs hang into the orchestra pit. The lights dimmed, spot on her, and she sang Over the Rainbow. MANY years later, I realized she didn't do it just because I was there. It was part of the show. But remember -- back then I was just a kid, and really believed she was doing it for me.

Judy Garland stands as the penultimate cautionary tale of Hollywood. Everybody there loved Judy for her prodigious talent, everybody used Judy because she made them lots of money, and everybody got rich except Judy, who died impoverished in her fifth husband's tacky low-rent flat in London's Chelsea District. The trajectory of her life is heartbreaking.

R M Sometimes people don’t want the support.They become very clever to masquerade any evidence that might tell their close family and friends of her addictions, I don’t know the end of her story though, so I can’t speak to if anyone denied support for her in the end. Such a sad journey for Judy Garland,, I think all she wanted was unconditional love. Someone was always using her for their own gain.
@89ksokd91
@89ksokd91 4 жыл бұрын
@@marahmillicentbalarny8447 I think in those times people were often not allowed to ask or need the support, and if not allowed, it is a natural response to trauma to cover it up or not show it. My grandma was from Judy's time and the term "buck up" was uttered when any problem surfaced, and this reprimand was passed from her to my mother to her offspring. It's a harsh world that people were just expected to "deal". Well, it's still true today, but moreso in her time. Anyway, we help cats and cats don't show their pain often, I do not understand the issue extending helpful resources to other humans. And I agree it appears she just needed unconditional love and support and didn't seem to have it in any adult.

I don't blame Judy Garland for saying that she belongs to London. Because she was pressured of Hollywood, mistreated her, her health, stole her whole money by her ex-husband, and much more. She had enough of that and left for London where the people of London were nice and respected her. She needed a break from those in Hollywood and others in America. Look at her unhealthy face and body from Hollywood !! Love her and hugs from me. R.I.P.

We need to learn from history that the performers we love are often hurting or being harmed in order to give us the performances we cherish. We need to start taking care of people and not letting our greed help the destruction of human beings. I am grateful for what Judy and others have given us during their long walk on this Earth. We need to start caring more about people's health than what they can do for us. I would rather Judy had stepped back from fame and gotten herself okay if it had been possible and lived to be an old lady, than to have had her burned out, in so much pain she had to self medicate, to be dead at 47, and left three children motherless, just so we could all hear her sing or so she could pay some bills. It's NOT ALRIGHT WHAT PEOPLE ARE PUT THROUGH. it's not just performers and athletes. It's also preacher's and politician's children forced into performing and being perfect for their perspective audiences. We need to look out for people and rip apart society's status quo. People like Judy, Shirley Temple, Amy Winehouse and others still living or dead that represent an epedemic - people seem willing to sacrifice for a little entertainment or for life to feel easier. It isn't right.

And this film is yet another bunch people making a buck off Judy's name and telling the story about her they want to tell. Renee seems very sweet and well meaning but none of Judy's kids are happy about it and I don't blame them - they're fed up with everyone focussing on her scandals and struggles rather than her talent and light and it's not what Judy would want to be remembered for. Also I would HATE to see someone portraying me and inventing conversations I'd apparently had without even asking me if I'm ok with it - it must be incredibly uncomfortable and painful for Liza, Lorna and Joe to be subjected to that. By this time in her life she had passed the road of no return, as addiction does to so many people - however in the very begining of her life she did absolutely not create her own destruction. All she wanted to do was sing, entertain, love, and be loved. However...by 1969... Her body and mind had turned against her very soul and she was literally dying in the publics eye so therfore I have absolutely no sympathy for her mother or MGM who (more or less) pushed her down that dark road. Yep I have read books that sympathise with her mother and the MGM studio but they pushed her way too hard and put her on drugs to meet their own financial ends. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT !!! Maybe they ment well in their own minds but when Judy's world was falling apart they lost patience but still managed to rake in everything that they could get from her... Sure Judy (& I don't blame her) got a little bit annoyed at certain audience members at 'The Talk Of The Town' or the staff or orchestra members who treated her like she was beneath them on certain occasions. She herself was all she had left and even when she was dying in plain sight...they still tried to put her down...shame on them... Her star and her rainbow is eternal and we are ever so greatful to our Judy x

I think the dress we are seeing in these clips is the dress she was buried in... and to fast forward to 2017, she was just moved from NY to CA so Liza and family could be eventually interred next to her, no room in NY I guess... and it would be that dress that took another plane flight this year... and was placed in CA.

Jean-François Brunet Absolutely. I just saw an episode of the Judy Garland show (the one with Barbra Streisand where they do a Get Happy/Happy Days medley) and all the commenters are raving over how thin Judy looks and how much energy she has. But I’ve been around addicts and it’s often while they are using that they are like this because society prefers it. What happens with Judy is that she is still a hurt little girl inside. She numbs the little girl’s pain by people pleasing. But when you avoid pain, it only grows. Later in the show, Judy is gaga over 21 year old Streisand, who is assured of herself. Judy’s childish insecurity is very visible. And yet all anyone says is how brilliant Judy is, even though to me she looks like a woman with an eating disorder mixed with a severe child like behavior hidden underneath the perfectionist. It’s too common among addicts, that combination.

She was a big money earner for MGM at the time & they used & abused her talent. She should have looked after herself better but I don't think she was there psychologically. I think her brain had ceased on her too & she expected others to look after her but they bankrupted her instead. What a waste of a great talent & life. She deserved better.
