It's because Hollyweird had/has an odd obsession with trying to emaciate the female form. It's why the skeletal Victoria Secret fashion show is allowed every year on tv, yet a commercial that showed curvy women in lingerie was banned, claiming it was too much. Overly skinny is "safe."
@sarahholland13755 жыл бұрын
The studio system back then had most actresses on diet & mood elevator pills not just Judy. They had to conform to a very rigid idea of 'beauty'. It's very abusive & very sad. One studio head even had actresses menstrual cycles plotted on a calendar so they couldn't plead 'women's problems' illness etc. When Judy was 15 she did 10films in 9months & collapsed on set with exhaustion. The Dr stated she need a year off. The studio gave her 3 weeks. No wonder she felt her mother failed her.

I was dumbfounded when I heard them say she was 47. She really did look like she was in her golden years. And then to learn why she appeared so worn, total heartbreak. I feel for her. How I wish she was able to experience the same profoundly genuine joy that she made *countless* others feel. This is no doubt tragically unfortunate, but it certainly doesn't tarnish her legendary status that she so rightfully earned. Nor does it erase the permanent mark she left on sooo many people's hearts. She was a remarkable presence. If there is life after death, I strongly hope Judy's afterlife is far more better, and far less cruel than the one here on Earth was to her. She deserves nothing less. They just don't make 'em like Judy Garland anymore. 🌈❤️

@Light in the Piazza I guess I'm going by how the average 47 year old looks. I really do admire Judy Garland. I'm a true fan. Just was noticing she looks older than her years.
@nuckinfuts76105 жыл бұрын
I was dumbfounded when I heard them say she was 47. She really did look like she was already in her golden years. To put it further into perspective, she passed away at age 47, which means these interview clips of her were sometime *before* 47. Regardless of her generation or the era at the time, she appears noticeably older than a woman in her late 40s. And to learn why she appeared so worn is heartbreaking. Drugs played only one dark role out of countless others. For decades, since her early childhood, Judy was visited daily by the feelings of utter exhaustion, no self-worth, tremendously overworked, deep anxiety, even deeper depression, high demands from top execs, endless pressure from the many toxic twats that used and abused her, etc. I feel for her. How I wish she would've experienced the same heartfelt joy that she made countless others feel. This is all no doubt tragically unfortunate, but it certainly doesn't tarnish her legendary status that she rightfully earned, nor does it erase the permanent mark she left on sooo many people's hearts. If there truly is life after death, I sure hope Judy's afterlife is far more better, and far less cruel than the one here on Earth was. They just don't make 'em like Judy Garland anymore. 🌈❤️

This is so heartbreaking. I never knew her struggles . May she Rest In Peace . And for her evil mother and those in Hollywood who harmed her . I hope they rot in hell!

💋What a beautiful human being! Fantastic talent! I can’t wait to see the new movie Judy. I believe Renee Zellweger has done her justice and Oscar worthy. If she had been nurtured with love I wonder how much different her life would have been. Rest in pease. ~💖Carli

How terrible the way she was used and then to think her own mother was such a monster too....her self esteem was destroyed by all these users at such an early age.... and then they took away her hard earned money and yet they could never take away that voice....Rest In Peace Judy 💜💜💜💜

Elvis and her were so similar in that they were great talents and sweet kind souls who were so used and abused by all those that surrounded them

I agree. I also think many of these talented entertainers who have gotten mixed up on drugs and suffered from mental illness were the insecure/ shy types that needed more support. Marilyn Monroe’s struggles that lead to her death were also very similar to Judy.

For some reason she was idolized by gay men. I went to a Judy Garland concert at Cobo Hall in Detroit. I think I was the only straight person in the audience.😱

And her daughter took the baton from her. Gay men love Liza.

So true. Sam Smith only sang one Christmas song.... Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. Why? Because Judy Garland sang it. 🤷♀️

65motowngirl For some reason Judy was and still is THE ICON IN THE GAY COMMUNITY. But, not all of her fans are gay. Just to name a few, Frankie boy, Dean, Queen Elizabeth, Bing Crosby, Spencer Tracy, or how about JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY. She even had a private line in the White House. He always knew where she was at so he could talk to her when he needed a little pick-me-up

So very sad. A beautiful women with a beautiful voice. It is a shame that women got treated like that back then. Very sad for her children but at least she is in peace and no one can tell her what to do anymore. Miss you Judy.

Lmao it's like Barbara Walters stopped aging in 1777 and sucks the soul out of the interviews
