She could sing a grocery list and still send shivers down everyone's spines. She may have died at 47, but she accomplished more in her life than most people accomplish by the times they're 90.

It always amazes me when the audience knows a song word for word like that. That part made me well up more than anything. The idea that that song is a part of so many people's collective psyche. The idea that SHE is a part of so many people's collective psyche. Extraordinary. Never another like her. Never.

Judy wasn't the cause of her addiction, her mother started her off with pills at such an early age and then when she signed to MGM she was put on more, the abuse she endured there and working constantly ruined her, anxiety ruined her so she continued the pills because they made her feel better. Every time she became ill the studio wouldn't allow her to take the appropriate time off for her to get help and get better, they wanted her back right away because she was the money maker. Judy went through a lot but the one thing we can agree on, she sure shined on that stage as though her world was perfect.

She was always happiest on the stage. When they sang part of the song back to her, we can see how much she loved her fans. When her family and friends turned away at the end, her fans never did. Her talent still marvels new generations of fans. Singers today cheat their fans by not singing live at their concerts or they sound really bad vocally because they use tech to improve their singing. Judy is raw talent and she "wows" new listeners because they've never heard real singing. RIP Judy. :)

I don't know the whole story no doubt, but this seems like such a precious moment captured for us. Judy Garland. Such remarkable talent and soul. If her agents and advisors abused and took advantage of her, they will get there judgment some day. Oh how I pray for God to protect the gifted and famous performers of our time to avoid the evils of addiction and wrong choices. God rest your soul Judy Garland. May God guide and protect your life Liza Minnelli.

@EnchantedSilence There is no interview that Judy Garland ever said she didn't like "Over the Rainbow" in fact in 1967 when she was on the TODAY show she said that was the best song ever written. She had great reverance for that song & never joked about it. She rarely sang it on television but always sang it in her concerts. I seen almost every interview and I never heard her say she didnt like the song. Even in her Biographies there never was any mention that she didnt like Over the Rainbow.

@CARLDAVIDBIRMAN This was on tv for the concert in Nov. 1964. Judy rarely sang OTR on TV. She saved it for her concerts but when we hear it sung on TV, it was a rare treat. She sang this song about 5 times in the14 yrs she did TV shows. This TV moment wasn't from a talk/variety show. It was a Televised concert, & the LP was recorded by Capitol Records. I wish they did the same for the Carnegie Hall Concert. THAT would have been amazing Imagine seeing stars like Marilyn Monroe in the audience?
