Omg! You actually did a video on her! Donna Summer was such an underrated vocalist and trailblazer. She alongside Giorgio Moroder started the Euro Disco and EDM movement. Such a versatile artist gone so soon. I keep forgetting her and Whitney passed in the same year 😢. A beauty. Donna Summer forever ❤️.

Nicole Sherman Late Ms. Donna Summer was not a such an underrated vocalist after all. She was very popular that time and was named as the Queen of Disco. She had many US and UK Top chart hits in the late 70's and early 80's. Also she had many platinum and gold certified albums including her most successful double album "Bad Girls" in 1979 which sold multi platinum in many countries. Its only after about 1984 that her commercial success started to go down, and that was very sad to see. Afterwards also she had comeback albums, because she did not give up and kept on recording. She was a true diva with that great voice and she was an unforgettable legend.

@@janath9118 I am actually discovering the talent that she displayed In the 1970s and 1980s. She was well groomed and made an impact on the disco scene. Her contribution was very real and now in the 2020s I appreciate her achievements. Maybe I can give her an orgasm after Death.
@janath9118
@janath9118 2 жыл бұрын
@@jamesbedukodjograham5508 Her early hits such as "Love to love you baby" with its heavy breathing sounds was done partly due to the persuation of her producers and not her own liking. If you are now discovering her songs, please listen to all of her albums from about 1975 to about 1991, and her comeback album of 2008. Then you will realise her true talents and that great voice equally in her fast, dance songs and her ballads. A true diva.

Man that Bad Girls album!!! As a kid I use to stare at her albums, her image was so iconic. A shame the whole Disco backlash because her songs are timeless and groundbreaking and still being played and sampled today. Some people thought she was a sexy joke in the beginning then she proved she was a real artist and writer with a voice that could sing any type of music. Thanks for this profile of a pioneer who deserved more.

Donna Summer is criminally underrated as a vocalist. She deserves to be in the same sentence as Aretha, Gladys, Patti, and Chaka. The only reason is she was pigeon holed as a “disco” artist. Lucky for us, she is just a KZfaq or Spotify click away.

@@woodrowpreacely7521 You maybe right about that particular song "Love to love you, baby" in 1975 with its heavy breathing sounds indicating orgasm. But i think it's done because her recording company producers had persuaded her so. This was evident in one or two of her songs only. But after that she never did it. What about that brilliant super hit song "I Feel Love" of 1977 with that futuristic music, all those excellent songs of her multi platinum selling album "Bad Girls" of 1979 and her wonderful other songs which followed? She was one of the most talented female artists ever with that beautiful voice.

Radio 1580 KDAY is the first time I heard Donna Summer and it was just a commercial for an upcoming show back in December 1975. I have been a fan since then. I miss her and I always will. I will see her in heaven, one day soon. ♥

FYI: in 1967, a young Melba Moore and Donna Gaines(later known as Donna Summer) both auditioned for the same role in the Broadway musical HAIR. Both ladies were so good that, the producers decided to give Melba the Broadway role. Meanwhile, Donna was offered the same role with the touring company of HAIR, which led to her leaving for Germany and Europe.

I heard Donna Summers sing "",don't cry for me Argentina "". It is the best I ever heard. Lord knows I miss her and that lovely voice. She looks like she could be Kelly Rowland's Mother.

OMG! I had no idea Donna Summer was from Boston. Let alone Mission Hill. My grandmother raised her 12 children in, what was at the time a rival housing project, Academy Homes, mere blocks away. I'm going to have to ask my mom if she knew that. And I just looked up her birthday. She was born 11 years before my mom. Her and I share a birthday, New Years Eve. 🎉🎉

To me, this proves the need for more black-owned content on tv. My favorite songs were: All Systems Go, Dinner with Gerswhin, and Bad Reputation. I just bought my two favorite albums from her: The Wonderer (80) and All Systems Go(87). They may sound a little weird at first- but both albums have an inspirational meaning to them, and I think it was Bruce Springsteen who helped her produce some of the songs.

I think Donna was adored by her fans and she was, in fact, a very nice lady. (Someone commented that she wasn't) As an artist, I do think that she was underated. I think she was one of the most talented and gifted entertainers we've ever had and she was a beautiful woman. She could sing anything and quite beautifully at that!

Truly one of my first loves ! Not to make anything about me but being a gay man Donna Summer just brought out love and joy and compassion for everyone ! I can honestly say I love her I admire her and I still want to see and be a part of her journey ! Religion being a factor in Donna Summer's life did not deter me from loving her admiring her and dancing to her music with joy and happiness . Her song this time I know it's for real was awesome it was probably one of her last hits and I still love that song ! Who would have thought this skinny little black girl with a voice of an Angel would have become an icon not just to the gay community but to everyone disco is not dead it lives on in many music aberrations . Disco never dyed it just became something more powerful . And Donna summers will always be the queen .I love you !
