Some years ago, I heard Jukka-Pekka conduct this work with the Stockholm Philharmonic. VERY good. He has supreme control over the long phrases and large arcs in this music. It is not very common to see this. One of the top Bruckner condutors, for sure.

I have never heard of Jukka Pekka, I am so impressed by his rendition on this huge scale of performance, and I want to believe that this is by far the most beautiful performance out there

He is great Finnish conductor, if you search for Sibelius, you'll find a lot of works conducted by him. ;-) His rendition of the Shostakovitch 11th Symphony with the BBC Phil is among my favourite performances of this dark and monstruous work! Here on Bruckner 9th he does a really wonderful performance as well. :)

Magnífico. Recuerdo los dos memorables conciertos en el Teatro Colon en Buenos Aires, Argentina (2004). Jukka-Pekka Saraste con la Orquesta Sinfónica de la BBC. En uno de ellos incluyó la Sinfonia nr 9 de A. Bruckner. Todo memorable.

I first heard him not many days ago performing the Kullervo of Sibelius. This is my first exposure to the Bruckner work. I can see absolutely no reason to look further for a finer performance. I sincerely believe that he is in rare company as conductors go.

Tolle Leistung von Orchester und Dirigent. Endlich mal ein Scherzo das nicht wie ein harmloser Walzer daherkommt und auch im Tempo gut. Die 9. von Bruckner ist ja ohnehin ein 'Killer' :)

The West Deutscher Rundfunk - The West German Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra - presently has Jukka-Pekka Saraste as its principal conductor. Cologne is in the far west of Germany, all right - about an hour's drive from Holland. Bruckner - well, what to say? Must listen to more Bruckner?

Too bad the Berlin Philharmonic didn't appoint Saraste as their new principal conductor. From what I've heard so far he is possibly one of the finest conductors around today and seems to get better and better as the years go by.
