I heard Julian for the first time about two days ago and I haven’t stopped. I’m generally not much of a jazz fan, although I have a soft spot for some fusion, and have always been a rock/punk/metal sorta guy but there’s something about this that just really clicks with me, his band are also amazing. What a talent!

A good balance of the chaos and the familiar, the comfortable and the delirious, the delicate, sublime. Also, I'm really glad this vinyl recording exists. The sound is great !

"Boo's blues" is oozing that old-school, full of soul, jazz-blues stuff that legends are made of. Glad to be living in the same era as you, Mr . Lage. Thank you so much for sharing your gift with us.

Julian's playing and writing become more nuanced with each new album. The closer here, "Call of the Canyon," which dates to 1940, is one I heard him play a few years ago in Ann Arbor. It was a real surprise to hear it, and I had the opportunity to thank him for throwing in songs like this one and "Nocturne," which deserve modern exposure -- as both compositions and through his fresh interpretations.

I wonder how they uploaded the sound...that sounded so good over the headphones. Julian's music is hypnotic, I didn't even plan on listening last night, figured I'll just see what it sounds like and listen some other time, next thing it was the end of the record.

I love everything you've been putting out. Especially Kuti by Charles Llyod, Ustad Zakir Hussain, and your beautiful guitar playing in the album. I had Kuti playing for more than 6hours straight on my headphones, in a bus, to a trip to Rameswaram (a spiritual town in India) Hope more people get to listen to it. Regards.

After getting into Julian heavy over the pandemic I am absolutely thrilled to hear this record. I am also absolutely thrilled beyond all measure because he teamed up with the hometown hero, Dave King, for this record and upcoming tour. So excited to see this trio in the fall in Minneapolis.

I don't want to compare, nor disrespect anybody's opinion on music, but it seems to me that if master Andrés Segovia would have played jazz on an electric guitar (which he did not play nor like, as it is known) I think that the sound would have had some similarity, some closesness to Julian Lage's voice. But this is just a fantasy, and we are lucky that their music, regardless of time and aesthetics differences, is not.

What a fantastic way to reinvent Day and Age. Love both versions in different ways for different moods

Listening to the work of this very young man feels to me like listening to the classics I know for 40 years. Everything seems right and in its place and still everything is new and exciting. There's a great many excellent jazz guitarists out there but no other than Julian has this quality to me.

We will see you in Knoxville in December. St. John's Cathedral provides a superb ambience and acoustics. Dave King of Bad Plus is a big plus! And Jorge Roeder unbelievable. I notice the vinyl here is played with an Ortophon Red cartridge and sounds good...I'd sure like to know what the rest of the audio system is.
