Actress Cheryl Holdridge, who played Julie Foster, one of Wally Cleaver’s two main girlfriends in six episodes of “Leave it to Beaver” (she also played Gloria Cusick in two earlier episodes), revives her role as Julie 25 years later in this 23rd commercial-free episode of the Still the Beaver revival series called “While the Beav’s Away” that debuted on The Disney Channel Oct. 2, 1985.
Wally’s childhood chum Tooey Brown (Lucas "Luke" / “Tiger” Fafara) also returns in this episode in which he and Julie join Wally and his pregnant wife Mary Ellen (Wally’s other school girlfriend in five episodes, here played by Janice Kent), as well as Eddie Haskell and Lumpy Rutherford on a committee to put together a high school reunion.
The fun comes in awkward moments as Julie makes no secret of her continued interest in Wally.
Ten year-old Giovanni Ribisi (credited here as Vonni) shows up in a continuing role as Duffy, best friend of Beaver’s youngest son Oliver, this time letting “Ollie” take the blame for breaking the window of a mean neighbor while Beaver's away on a business trip. Meanwhile, since Oliver lied to grandma June Cleaver (Barbara Billingsley) about other troubles he caused, he can’t get Grandma to believe that he didn’t break the window.
This is the 23nd of 26 episodes in 1984-85 before the series featuring most of the original cast of Leave it to Beaver, including Jerry Mathers and Tony Dow, moved to WTBS Superstation for three more seasons under the name The New Leave it to Beaver from 1986-89.
