Julien's growth is visible in her new album not only because of the full-band sound but because of the implicit hope in her lyrics. The lyrics are still dark but I am happy that she's starting to see that she can do something or receive help from others to get better/ to make things better.

I kind of think that feelings of self sabotage and the question, "why am I like this?" is pretty universal. It feels specific, even if it's not. I think that's the brilliance of it. Also, it's courageous as hell
