You have to have cared a lot to just fall into apathy. You have emotional intelligence.

Apathy usually happens to me when I am involved in a project and I only focus on it. But I have noticed that just a few minutes of socializing and not thinking logically about working reduces my stress a lot and allows me to continue working later. It is like we need to connect with others daily to be able to relax and then be more productive.

One of the tips that's helping me currently is feeling my body. And the way to do that is exercise like yoga with focus on breath, or laugh from stomach. Basically trying to move the body's emotion container parts like chest, stomach and groin. Then feeling the emotions and letting go

Life has taught me most people will eventually backstab you. Keep them as much as arms length as you can but give just enough social interaction to know you exist and maybe an amicable enough bond. Those very few who earn your respect and trust i can then share better. Otherwise emotions...are used against you, or they end up being wasted along with your time thus apathy is sometimes better than to feel anything.

Unfortunately I can empathize with your plight. It is incredibly difficult to get your hopes up for anything when everything goes wrong eventually. Even an intriguing conversation with a trusted friend will end leaving one with the same emptiness that was present before; and that’s usually a best case scenario let alone being betrayed or constantly having dreams slip through your fingers

@chriswest4875 it always sounds so depressing, the dreams slipping away and emptiness. I feel this way too, but me personally I don't think I'm depressed and I don't really see a downside, I don't really connect with anyone around me but they can all be so destructive with their joy chasing anyway

You assume everyone has friends. My thing is everything feels superficial. when I try to share it is discard or dismissed.People want to talk about them or they are gossiping about you with what you share. People use what you share against you. people twist what you share. So to protect one self connecting becomes superficial.

I was such an candidate. Maybe not that extreme but pretty extreme. LSD gave me an extreme outbreak of sadness. Cried for the first time in many years. After that i understood i have to let go to get my heart back. Now im letting go for 1 year and some months. Best decision of my life. By far Toughest time of my life. Many times i was bathing in those suppressed feelings but continued. I feel so much better and theres still a way to go. Its tough to this day but im feeling better and lighter then every. Anxiety almost gone wich was so extreme i would get a panic attack on train. Everyone who is on that journey, stay on it and dint give up. Its the best thing you will ever do to yourself. It was the best decision of my life

that’s a fairly typical Germanic perspective. My ex partner used to say “what are you doing with all the photos you make”.. ie no purpose in my love for photography. I asked him “what are you doing with all the steps you take at your salsa class?”

4:40 DUDE my friends won't even do that. Like every night or evening I go on these "late night cruises" with my car and just listening to music, no set destination just the sake of driving and vibing. My friends don't want to even do that. So I have cruised with myself in the car for like 4 years now. Maybe I should really name these people as not "friends"

That describes me to a T right there. I can ONLY see everything from pure logic. That is how I am from a very young age. It is also called stoicism. I am surprised that the guy in this case even talked to therapists. Usually, people like us do not talk to anyone except those who are very close to us, because 99.99% of daily chitchat are wastes of time. If somebody other than a very intimate partner asks me to get involved with an activity or something I will always find an excuse to not go. Press me further and I might agree, only to ghost and flake out at the last minute and I will not care. You asked for it, shoulda left me alone when I gave you the hint. That's just how we are.
