I just saw this dress today. It was pure magic :) I hope that a museum or someone who will display the dress will get it. I wish I could afford it! Good luck to the bidders!

OMG!!!! I can't even imagine how much that dress is going to be auctioned off for.
@lusciousrobb23210 жыл бұрын
if you know anything about the history of this costume it is not whit underneath and the dress wasn't a pure white and blur gingham either ! They had a strong pink dye in the fabric so that the whites did no appear a wash out under the extreme brightness of the lamps on stage ! This had to be done because of the technicolor film process !

Judy Garland memorabilia, much like the Maltes Falcon, is the Holy Grail of Holly Wood collectibles. Her talents and genuine demeanor were in a class of their own. Judy's happy little laugh was priceless as is this garment.

She was a darling, and contrary to what some rumormongers say, the cast and crew of "The Wizard of Oz" absolutely adored her.

My parents owned this dress for the majority of my life and now I am 44. This was kept in a glass case on their wall in the studio in our home. My parents wanted to auction it and share it with another family. Darren and Julian, we love you.

Inside Edition is claiming it's been missing for 50 years. I went on the 50th Anniversary tour back in '89, and all their costumes were there. I also met 2 of the Munchkins, and have their autographs. Why do they lie like they do?

Judy pulls a handkerchief out of her right pocket after she slapped the lion but that's not the hidden one. They say she kept cigarettes in the secret pocket. I would have taken those cigarettes away from her. Freakin MGM!!

@@JoshBG20 There was only one producer, and he did no such thing. She was an avid anti-smoker in her teens. Her weight loss was effected by a reduced food intake diet and supervised exercise; her stuntwoman, Bobbie Koshay, took Judy hiking and swimming (Judy could swim a mile) and played tennis and badminton with her.

Judy didn't smoke; in fact, in a 1938 interview, she declared that she would never smoke or drink. Sadly, as an adult, she did both.

So, is this the real dress which she actually wore or is it a copy made in the "style" of with all the right details? This woman did not specifically say this...
@pikemeredith56044 жыл бұрын
This dress looks small in size & I guess as Judy was made to lose weight she had to fit into it. The camera does add 15 pounds so Judy probably looked a little chubbier in it on screen than in reality. I know for a fact the dress wouldn't fit me as I look at it & it is likely the real one due to the discolourisation of the blouse.
@MaskedMan663 жыл бұрын
Judy was 4'11" and Judy looks the same in photos as she does in the movie.

But when she was making "Wizard," she was dead set against both. And it was necessary, just not something Fleming relished doing; in fact, he asked John Lee Mahin to break his nose for it. Judy overheard him and kissed his nose by way of forgiving him. In fact, Judy would demand that you apologize for bad-mouthing Fleming, seeing as how she had a major crush on him.
