Isaiah’s early journey looked like he was genetically disadvantaged, compared to the natural leapers. but he became the highest jumper in the world and just the other day I saw a comment on an IG vid of him saying “he’s all genetics.” Man what a full circle ! Haha
@Anon.G8 ай бұрын
I don't think he ever looked genetically disadvantaged
@charlesborel84938 ай бұрын
What he meant when he said he wasn’t born with freaky athleticism was that he had to work for it but his genetics are just fine. My standing reach is 7’5.5” so I wish I had a higher standing reach and my wingspan is an inch shorter than my height but I’m still dunking just could be better if I was longer in the arms
@caution9348 ай бұрын
yea he never was genetically disadvantaged he was doing between the legs dunks at a 36 inch vert most people are rim grazing with that vert

man looked unathletic in 2015 and just in 2016 he turn everything around, he was one of the highest jumper since early 2019
@getpape41267 ай бұрын
He was a late bloomer like russel Westbrook. Westbrook wasn’t a freakish dunker in his high school tape.

I have a question. I do one strenght training session for legs and one plyometric session a week is this enough to jump higher?

I think I saw a post of you guys saying that you were currently in a volume-focused block of training. So I'm assuming this training PR session corresponds to the ensuing deload microcycle?

Hip Thrust is a quad movement by the way. Glute work hard only at lockout. But the start is quads + glutes. I think single leg elevated hip thrust is a much better variation to hit those gute+hamstring and opposite hip flexor. It's very similar to athletic movements (single leg jump, sprint)! I highly respect John's work. His knowledge and tips cured my jumpers knee. But he really needs to work on his form (getting deeper ROM) and not his ego.

Is there much of a difference between barbell hio thrusts and machine hip thrusts?
@IsaiahRivera18 ай бұрын
Less stabilization needed with smith machine and the bar path is locked
@jobausch32198 ай бұрын
Oh ok thank you. Will that make a big change in the results if I substitute the machine for barbell?

Buen entreno isahia en mi gym no podemos tirar las pesas en el suelo 🤷 así que solo hago sentadillas y peso muerto
@IsaiahRivera18 ай бұрын
Que lastima :/
@rubatsch17138 ай бұрын

Isaiah, or someone smart in the comments. My standing vert is only 1 inch less than my full approach two foot jump. Any idea why or what I can do?? My 1 foot jump is actually lower than my standing vert as well…

@@samfolkestad1726 what’s weird is no and yes. When I was jumping my highest my squat max was 225, and I weighed 165 at 5’10, guessing low teens bf%. I could consistently dunk at this point, but just a simple one hander. I was 22 YO at that point. I’m now 31 YO and trying to get back to dunking again. My squat is now 285 but I’m around 20% bf and weigh 184. Can touch rim vertically but can’t dunk. You think my first thing to do should be lose fat?? I recorded my approach and it does seem slow and kinda always has been, but when I speed up I jump lower and feel off. Thank you for the response btw.
