I like doing both. When you run you can just zone out - no concentration needed - so I use that time to just think about things I'd otherwise be too busy to. But I also look forward to jumping rope and trying to learn new tricks or skills. Whatever gets you off the couch!

Jump rope is totally more full body with the weighted crossropes. However, I just tend to like running more. Both are good to mix up together.

I feel like running is more a task for me. Jumping rope seems more creative and fun. Plus I can do it in my garage or back porch. I don’t own a treadmill nor do I like running in same place like a gerbil, so I can’t run when it’s raining because I mess up my hair. Lol

Thanks Bill. Ya, of course it's based on a heart rate monitor which is only taking into consideration heart rate, age, weight and height. I think if you factor in the extra upper body engagement of jump rope it would increase the spread....but no data to back that up.

Great vid! Would you suggest I use the crossrope power handles with the 1/4lb - 1/2lb ropes? I'm a beginner but I want to save some money instead of buying the slim handles and the power handles together?
@Jump15official
@Jump15official 4 жыл бұрын
The get lean set comes with the slim handles and those ropes. But if you're wanting to be able to add the heavier ropes down the road and not get another set of handles then the power handles would be the way to go. Are you buying a set or piecing it together yourself?
@caleb9570
@caleb9570 4 жыл бұрын
@@Jump15official Thanks for the response! I got the starter set, which comes with the slim handles / 1/4lb rope, but after I saw some people paring the power handles with the 1/4lb rope, I started to consider swapping it so that I can use it with the other ropes. What do you have to say about the compatibility of the power handles with the 1/4lb rope?
@Jump15official
@Jump15official 4 жыл бұрын
Personally I prefer the feel of the slim handles with the light ropes, but I have seen people say they prefer the power handles. I feel the slim handles provide more control for skill work. It comes down to personal preference.

Thanks for testing this out. You did a lot of tricks and bursts for your skipping (from what I could observe on your sped up video) and the run was fast at the beginning, then slowed up. I'm finally getting a heart rate monitor/watch, and I would love to test this out. It would be good to control both the skip intensity and the run speed/pace. Studies show that 10 minutes of high intensity (124 calories burned) is equivalent to 30 minutes of jogging. I can't wait to test this. I can do 100 skips/30 seconds. What is your resting heart rate?
@Jump15official
@Jump15official 4 жыл бұрын
Ya my goal was to do each exercise as I would perform regularly. Haha ya I started quick on the run and totally burnt out fast. I didn't time it well as I had done a leg workout a couple days before and was still sore. So trust me, I didn't slow up on purpose 😂 I do not know my resting heart rate. I would guess it's in the mid to upper 60's...

Both are great calorie burning exercises. I prefer skipping rope though, since I noticed it's a lot easier on my back and bad knee. I did A LOT of both while boxing when, I was younger and could never pick a favorite out of the two. Now at age 41, I'll stick more to skipping rope over running anyday

I’d agree with an earlier comment that they both compliment each other. I started skipping everyday 5 months ago as I had a hamstring injury so was looking for something to get the heat rate up - I paired it with speed walking. Anyway I kept skipping and improving technique - once I started running I was stronger all round - on 2/1/21 I did a 7.08 mile pace for 10.34 miles. Without fail I skip for 5-10 minutes before a run👍

Running is great but it's hard, hard on the legs, hard on the knees and if you run on concrete, hard on the back as well. Skipping (on a mat) is hard...to do well, but it's got variety and "levels" and becomes more fun the better you get at it. I like to run (trail running only) but I love to skip and it requires no effort on my part to "want" to spin the rope for 10 mins or so whenever I have a bit of time.
@Jump15official
@Jump15official 2 ай бұрын
💯 it keeps my mind from focusing on the pain aspect of the workout and you can work on skills and keep it fresh constantly. I think it's the same for trail running versus road or track. You have to think about foot placement and obstacles so you don't trip or roll an ankle. On the road or track...it's just one foot after another grinding it out.

@Jump15official
@Jump15official Жыл бұрын
Tough to say. This will differ from person to person and I typically do interval workouts and per a heart rate monitor (assuming they are accurate...which is questionable) I think 20-25 minutes at a 120 revolutions per minute pace (2 jumps per second) would get you close. Studies have shown at that pace in an hour you burn 1000 cals.

Jump rope > Running/Jogging any day. However this does not mean I neglect running entirely. I use running/walking/jogging (depending on my mood) on my off days from high-volume calisthenics. My high volume calisthenics workout consists of 100 push-ups, 100 inverted rows, 100 squats, and 10 minutes of skip rope. Running was good for a while but it got hella boring for me to the point where I would sometimes neglect it on my off days. Enter jump rope where the cardio workout is not only fun but compliments quite well with leg workouts such as squats.
