Love to see the old sewing machine I had an old Jones which I used for years when my daughter was young I'd get her to turn the handle while I held on to the fabric. I always kept the needle packet so I knew which needls to buy there were some many to choose from. 🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧

Wow what a treasure from the past, I love how quiet it is when you cranked it. Such good condition, enjoy using it. My gran did all her sewing by hand. Her business & her personal sewing. She was a seamstress, tailoress & milliner.

How lovely to have your nan’s sewing machine. I recently bought a wooden shelf and used Liquid Gold to clean & ‘feed’ the wood. It might be better if you don’t want to use oil on something that will be near your fabric & yarn.

I have my Mom’s foot pedal Singer and hope to one day have time to learn sewing on it. Thank you for showing the one you got from your grandmother and foe showing Jensen sleeping 🥰🥰🥰 my boys used to sleep that way and you brought me fond memories of my baby who will be 28 in 6 days❣️

Hearing you crank up the old Singer machine brought back so many happy memories of my Nan’s machine! She was a wonderful dressmaker and made clothes for the whole family on hers. It had the long bobbins too which I think yours have! I’ve no idea what happened to it but I wish I still had it! Jensen asleep with his bum in the air is adorable x

Oh my! Jensen sleeping just melted my heart! My brother used to sleep like that too. Can you imagine sleeping in that position as an adult? I'd need an ambulance when I woke up 😂 x

Hope your dad is better soon. Jensen looks so peaceful. Beautiful color yarn for your sweater. I enjoyed seeing the vintage Singer. I had not seen one with a handle like that. I always wished I could find a treadle Singer. I sewed on one when I was really young. 😊

I love your Nan’s sewing machine. I picked up one in a vintage shop which I oiled & cleaned and have used 😊. I was fascinated by the number plate on it which I could looked up to find out exactly when it was made. Enjoy using yours.

How fabulous to have the sewing machine from your Nana! You’ll enjoy using that, I think. Love all the socks that you and your mother have made for your father! I’m like your mother - being a DPN fan for knitting my socks. I absolutely love using DPNs. Jensen is getting to be such a big boy. What a gorgeous boy! It seems like only yesterday that he was born. Hi Ellie. Missed your cheerful podcasts. Hope your dad is on the mend. Love the fingering weight version of the shawl. My mum was friendly with the elderly lady who lived a few doors away and used to pop in and do her cleaning and keep her company when she got older. When she passed away her daughter asked my mum if she wanted all her craft stuff including a sewing machine just like your nan's. I made my first pair of curtains on it just after I got married! Sadly I traded it in for an electric Singer which eventually broke. My electric machine now is a Brother but I still have my mum's very weighty Singer electric machine from the 1950s.

Oh my heart! I have this very same sewing machine that belonged to my Nan! It’s currently at my mum’s house while we are settling into our new home and getting my new craft space in order, but it will be coming home with me soon. I have not sewn with it though.

I love your grannies sewing machine! So cool! When traveling in Bolivia, 35+ years ago, I came upon rows and rows of foot pedal Singers. I wanted one so bad! But how to get it home? I think this hand crank version could be great for short little sews. * * * Maybe use it to sew Tillie & the Buttons label in your sons sweater... putting a little of your grannie in the sweat for your son!.

I have recently retrieved my Singer sewing machine from my Mum's house. It was passed to me by my husband's Aunt. Mum swapped with me for her electric modern one, which if I'm honest I haven't used much. The Singer has been converted to electric but I used my Nan's hand run Singer all through my youth. My Mum passed last May and my brother was going to throw it out!

I still use a hand sewing machine ! It is a Singer from 1958 & is a nice cream colour. It was my mother's & I took it over when she bought a new machine. It has always worked well for me.

I have the same Singer without the cover. What is the best product to preserve the black and prevent the gold being taken off? I’m also interested in what’s best product for the wood as I keep mine in a hot conservatory. Jen x
