I think going into any (big) chain supermarket and buying only from their (most budget) products, such as no-brand sugar versus Domino, etc, would be a great idea, too.

June, your Budget videos have really changed the way I cook. I make sure to reuse the scraps I would normally throw away (ex: cilantro stems, pumpkin seeds, etc) I try to buy more ingredients that I would never normally buy to experiment with like you often do (ex: the bloody spleen) I constantly think of ways of how I can reuse my leftovers. Thank you!!

I’ve always tried to use everything I have. What June has inspired in me is bravery and confidence in the kitchen! I don’t play it safe anymore. I try new things and weird things and I go for it even if I might “fail.” Because any “failure” is really a learning experience.

Excellent idea! I have way too many things in my pantry plus I have to rely on my homecare people to tell me what's in there because I can't walk right now so I buy some things that I find from my other homecare person that I already had that item! So I'd love to get rid of some soon to be expired

Expired food tip: tiny taste.. if its metallic tasting or your tongue tingles or burns, it is bad. You can also just put it on your lips, they will tingle/burn the same way but no taste involved. On meats, if you can't tell while in the package, while starting to cook and especially before adding any seasoning, smell the cooking smell, if there's an odd or super sweet smell, let it cool down and throw it out. If you HAVE to eat it, make sure your internal temperature is over 180 degree Fahrenheit. Eat at your own risk, I'm not liable, just trying to help from a long childhood of food scarcity.
@mom24boybarians
@mom24boybarians 2 жыл бұрын
I concur with the "have to eat it" advice. The best way to make sure it really ALL gets up to temperature is to boil it and keep it at a boil 5 minutes. You can boil in water, broth, tomato juice, etc.

Happy to see you and Fred again and to know Aaron is there in the background to answer the major foodie questions! (😆) I’ve been following your live vlogs and I know it’s been a rough time. Glad to see today was a “good” day. Like you and many of your viewers, I’ve experienced parental loss, both my parents over the last five years. Just know that the loss, though always painful, will morph over time into something more manageable. Let your work, your cat, and your resident food critic/significant other, (plus good friends) sustain you through the tougher days. And take some small comfort in the fact that your talents and camera presence have turned a bunch of far-flung strangers into a supportive fan base that would be the envy of any KZfaqr (and of most “civilians”)…🤟😎

First of all, June is a national treasure. ❤️ I love Budget Eats and will keep watching it if you keep making it. And if June needs a break, it is worth the wait. I’d love to see more holiday episodes! As far as where to shop, I’ve always shopped at Price Chopper, which is based in upstate NY, so it’s not too far off. It would be interesting to see a Budget Eats from a weekly sale store rather than an everyday low price-type of market. Thank you for all the content!!!

Thank you for acknowledging that buying small and local is a luxury for many people. I see so much shaming on food channels and blogs toward people who shop at the conglomerate, big box stores because ethics, sustainability, etc. But for many families, it’s all they can afford. I would love to shop exclusively at farmers markets, locally owned meat and seafood markets, and the most sustainable stores…but that’s often out of my limited budget.

New sub! I’ve watch old videos of you and hear your mom on the phone. I’m so sorry for your loss. You’ve taught me how to use every bit of everything and turn it into wonderful meals. I’m a big Aldi and TJ shopper.

Not a question, but I want to say how much I love this series. I’ve sat through countless ads for Axe body spray just to watch this, which was such a comfort during an incredibly challenging time in all our lives. Some watch “The Office,” I watch “Budget Eats.” I’m also so glad someone asked about the chicken skin; every time I watch that episode I’ve wondered which of June’s dreams were dashed!!
