June Bug Pie (Now Known As Judah Bug Pie) The name even sounds Southern!

Today I'm making a new pie, June Bug Pie, for our family supper. It's amazing, and you definitely want this in your pie repertoire.
I hope you all enjoy the southern farm and ministry culture that our lives revolve around.
June (Judah) Bug Pie
1 unbaked pie shell
1cup pecans or peanuts or mix them
1/2 Caramel sauce
12 oz chocolate chips
1 can sweetened Condensed Milk
3 eggs
1 pound cream cheese room temp
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
Assemble per video instructions and bake at 350° for 50 minutes
Caramel Sauce
1/2 cup butter
2 cups brown sugar
25 marshmallows
3 Tbls lighy corn syrup
1 can evaporated milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped pecans

I make a pie every week for my deceased hubby's coffee group at a McDonalds. I am going to have to try this one it will be so rich in the early a.m. will have to see if they can eat the entire slice. Some of them have lost their wives or they are in assisted living the fellows ages range from 70's to 90's they love home made pie.

If you use half of the egg shell as a scoop to remove pieces of shell, they won’t “run from you”. They are actually attracted to it. It’s memory.

I've never heard of this pie before. Looks delightful. I will have to try it. I make a hot fudge that I keep in my refrigerator for ice cream. I may make that instead. It's a bit softer. The top part looks like a simplified cheese cake. I can't wait to try this. It has all my favorite things!

❤ My hubby is the best taste tester too lol. I would have loved to have seen those little baby boys digging into that pie yum yum... And I'm like you I would just be able to take a few licks or one or two bites because my body chose to have type 2 diabetes. I love making desserts for my family and our church people.p.s. I guess I got busy It took me a couple of tries to watch this whole video but I finally made it clear through Love watching you with your family. My Daddy made the kitchen counters for Momma's height, 5'2". I took over every kitchen job I could as early as possible because of developing a passion for cooking & especially baking but by the time I was 13 I hit my full height...6'. I was grateful to move into my first apartment with a typical counter height! We've had several beautiful nights in the 40s or 50s here in Michigan. That pie looks amazing! No doubt a rich, delightful experience to be sure.

My mother is 6'1" and she had special custom built cabinets made just for her because she didn't want to hurt her back bending. As much time as she has spent in the kitchen all of these years, it's a good thing. Pie looks interesting.

@@sylphofthewildwoods5518 I sure would have liked those cabinets! Next to Momma when I was really young I spent the most time in the kitchen. I liked to cook and absolutely love baking. I was blessed with the most amazing teachers! Momma, both Grandmas, Aunts & even a great Aunt who taught me how to decorate cakes. I have done all I can to help teach my kids and nieces as well as a few friends. One of the most practical things to learn in any generation. People always need to eat, right?

@@debgalloway1398 Amen! I agree. There's nothing like a Mother, Grandmother, sister and aunt to teach us wonderful things we can use every day and practical things that help us in life. I like to bake and decorate cakes as well. Baking is my favorite thing. I wanna bake Mother a lemon cake. And an orange cake. I need to find some Meyer lemons. She enjoys those kinds of citrus things. :)

@@sylphofthewildwoods5518 Not only do I love to bake like you but my Momma loved lemon things as well! Any citrus she enjoyed but lemon was her favorite. It is so hard now that I can't physically handle baking very much. I can still do bread where there are short times to stand then sit to let the yeast do it's job. Momma is in heaven now but I can still take Daddy cheese crisps to the nursing home and I have my girls help me do cookies once in a while. He may be turning 89 this year but I will never stop being 'Daddy's Cookie'!

Leslie, I know how you feel about the counter height. I'm 5'3" and feel like a child when I'm in the kitchen working. I love the rich look of that pie! I think it would be a perfect Christmas pie, too. Your grandsons are so cute! I love seeing them.

Yes, I keep my baking stones in the oven and I do sometimes forget their in there. Good thing is stones can take that heat without smoking.

My stone does smoke when it gets really hot--from the grease it has absorbed over the years. Of course, that's what makes it so nice to use--it's well seasoned and nothing sticks!

Wow, Leslie! This pie looks so amazingly rich and satisfying. I hope I can drum up the energy to make it! Due to mobility problems, I haven’t been able to cook much, it’s driven me crazy. maybe a Levi Lemonade Pie....one of the icebox kool aid (lemonade flavor) pies sweetened condensed milk with whipped cream/chill it---in graham cracker crust. Great for August.

Oh my goodness….that pie would put you in a diabetic coma with all the sugars and sweetness…lol. You probably could only eat a small piece cause it sounds rich. I did make the Banana bread pie (Impossible pie) and I love it.

Can I tell you a little secret my mama taught me... When you have [O much crust for your pan take a knife and go around the outside of your pan and cut the extra off and you will always have a perfect crust❤❤❤❤.

Leslie, this is an incredible pie. My family and friends ❤️ it. I used store bought deep dish pie crusts, and I had enough to make two pies. I still had caramel and chocolate left to put on top. Thanks for another video and great recipe.

I'm only 4'10 so everything is just way too high for me I can barely use our kitchen cabinets trying to get my hubby to take them down and just put shelves up which I probably couldn't reach those either lol. We looked at the house one time that was built for a shorter people and I loved it but it didn't work out for my husband because he had to duck to go through all the doorways lol , He's 6'4". But it really would be nice to have a kitchen custom made for my height lol

Acadian Levi Pie 2004 Winner - Blomidon Inn, Sean Laceby • 1 cup butter (room temperature) • 1 cup brown sugar • 1 tsp vanilla • 1 cup oatmeal • 1 cup flour • 1 tsp baking powder Combine all ingredient in a mixing bowl, until ingredients come together and form a crumble mixture. Set aside. • 10-12 Nova Scotian apples • 1/2 cup maple syrup Arrange apple slices in bottom of a 10x12 pan. Pour maple syrup over apples. Cover with oat toppping and bake at 375- 400°F for 25-30 minutes or until topping is brown. Maple Custard • 5 whole eggs • 3 cups whipping cream • 1/2 cup maple syrup • 1 tsp. vanilla Whisk all ingredients together in a stainless steel bowl. Cook over boiling water until custard thickens. Cool over ice bath.

Oh goodness! That one tiny shell wont hurt nobody! LOL Its healthy for us. Silly!😂 Why add legumes(to a pie??) I would stick to walnuts or Pecans; since peanuts/goober peas/legumes are horrible for creating inflammation in the body. (FYI) Pintos!! 😱 Inflammation bomb! Sure wouldve liked to see you cut it

Hi Leslie, that was tiny that shell but I really think it is ok if you get it in cause it won’t hurt you. I don’t worry unless it is a big piece. Good idea to crack it in a separate bowl.
