What you said around 26:35 reminds me of how I felt about this deck when I was deciding whether or not to get it. I wasn’t crazy about the art, it isn’t the sort of thing I usually go for, yet I was drawn to it. It gives me very deep, intense readings and I’m glad I decided to get it.

re: the Wildwood books. The Wild Magic one, the "workbook," is definitely not a workbook. It has some essays, lore on some of the figures depicted in the deck, and a section on various personal experiences Mark Ryan has had that influenced the deck (which are often fun to read but not the most relevant to reading the deck really); it does have some activities like guided meditations and spreads but it's definitely not a workbook. Year In The Wildwood by Alison Cross is closer to a workbook in that it has journal/reflection questions and goes card by card, but I found it really mixed in terms of whether I liked the entries or not and I do think it needed a good edit. I don't think either book is vital to enjoying the deck, but each offers something beyond what the guidebook does.

I didn't know there were two different ones! Maybe I'll give it a go with just the guidebook for a while and then decide.

You know what it is about Gentle Tarot? It's nice to you about your own shitty humanity, so kind, like no one really is... and it hurts. Kim Tsan too. Intelligent kindness.

I’m glad you tried another time. The lack of videos was noticed, trust. lol. I’m now waiting for the day you accidentally say *I have that on vinyl* Oooo poetry. I’m adding these to my list. If you want to see some examples from inside some of my current poets, let me know. It’s kinda too subjective for me to know which you’d def love. ESP as I do have some insta poetry which I love too hahahaha. Ooo yas wildwood. I’d love to know how you get on this time around. I’ve been using it a lot lately. The write ups it’s been inspiring have felt super cathartic.

I noticed you were gone a couple weeks! I figured summer was the culprit. So contemporary poets I’d recommend: Ada Limon, Sharon Olds, Carl Philips, Mary Oliver. 😊

I bought a vinyl record player for the same reason a few years back, we’ve moved 3 times since and I have it stashed in the garage till I figure out where to display it in a usable space. 😭 Would love to know more about your Dante’s Inferno wandering! I love the Mystical Dreams tarot, I’ve only used it a handful of times but it hits so hard and true, I think, precisely because it is a weird and different in it’s depictions and meanings. Thanks for another fun rambly and ranty video, they are always worth the wait. ❤

Absolutely did notice you were away for a while! Yes please to a video on how you work with Dante’s Inferno - I was thinking of doing something similar (getting the book to work with the deck). I have ‘Wild Magic: The Wildwood Tarot Workbook’ but not ‘A Year in the Wildwood’. Seen a lot of KZfaqrs working through the latter but I’m not sure I could dedicate a full year to a study right now - life is busy!!

A Year in the Wildwood, by Alison Cross. Yes, get it, I feel it’s a must-have for the Wildwood Tarot deck.
