As a witch from the 90s...Yes. All of that. The six-month witches who don't realize how much there is to learn because their only reference is tiktok, the commodification that makes it seem like you need to spend $100 just to get a foot into the witchcraft door (and that $100 is wasted on cheaply made crap because a new practitioner doesn't know where/how to get their money's worth yet), the ten-year cycles in popularity, etc. I think we are coming to the downswing in popularity though, which I think will be a good thing for the community overall. I've started to think we need the breaks from the public eye every now and then.

"I spend time wishing I was different than I am" same babe, same. Lol. This was a lot of fun. I think it's so weird when people get offended when someone doesn't like somthing they do. Everything is not for everyone, and that's ok. How boring would it be if we all liked the same things? Totally with you on Alana Fairchild decks, I just can't with them. Oh gods, that sacred cycles one really squicks me out, I know it will probably be helpful for some but I find that the folks who are usually into that kind of shit turn out to be massive transphobes. They also seem to have this weird thing about 'womben' (BWOK!) being magical due to their reproductive organs which I find kind of gross and reductive. Obviously this is a generalisation but it's been my exprience at least.
@tarotreadingsfromabitchКүн бұрын
YES. That's exactly what I hate about it. This "divine feminine/masculine" shit is just repackaged general roles and I am not here for it.

So far I like none of them either. I so agree with your intuition. Purge them to a second hand store.I take mine here locally to Half Price Books. They have a program gives them a demand/popular or rates.. Just a thought.. Be true to you, only you can either connect to a deck or no connection at all.. I have purged twice so I am more particular on my purchases. I like more along the indie decks than mass.. Just my preference.. Be true to yourself...

I have a couple decks left that I don't use but I've found over the years that I'm just holding on to them until I meet the right person to give them to. Rehoming them at the right time to the right person is so satisfying. Sidenote: I was unaware of the Spheres of Heaven deck but I'm going to look for it even though I'm a big, fat atheist.

I've got to agree with you on the Danielle Noel decks. I've never liked the art style and all the pastel/muted colors. I was surprised they were all the rage for awhile in the tarot community honestly. That being said I did purchase one of her decks specifically recently called "the starchild tarot" and I only purchased it because it was a damn good match for The Energetics of Color oracle. So I enjoy using those two together but I doubt I would just pull that deck out and work with it on its own.

Great video. I have loved - I mean, really really loved - the work of Susan Seddon Booker for many years, she was an incredible, psychic and intuitive artist. But her works were turned into oracle decks long after her death, so whoever did it has kinda shifted the emphasis of her art. It’s like after you die, someone decides to keep their pasta in your fruit bowl, and then tries to persuade everyone its not pasta, it’s fruit. It doesn’t work. Maybe they just wanted to keep her work out there …. Or maybe it was the money 🙄. But please don’t dismiss her art because of the oracle decks. Keep up the good work!

Well someone is decluttering her cutesy and twee decks! Good for you 👍 I have been muttering to myself all morning about how TarotTubers are all too polite and don’t say what they really think…. And here you are in my algorithm 🤣🤣 This has been very refreshing. It’s not just the colours that are saturated on decks, the whole tarot/oracle market is over-saturated and there is no reason to like every single deck out there. Some of the twee decks these days are just downright patronising imho. Saying hello from over the pond in London, UK

I loved your last video and this video. I think these are some of the best tarot videos I have seen in a long time. 🤣 The tea has to be split about some of these decks and the weird reasons we can't get rid of them. I have gotten rid of many of the decks you mentioned. PS: If I am remembering right I think the artists in Haiti who created the Ghetto Tarot were given a flat fee but not royalties. Thus probably under paid and exploited. The creator denies this but I also felt really weird about this deck and got rid of it.

i agree with you - they put artwork on a tarot card without asking Does this actual work with the meaning or reading? So good to keep to look at like a book - seasons of the witch for me it too much like pump it out for profit and they lost me when their newest one - summer - was a quest to manifest money , yeah...no

I had the sacred cycles on my wishlist for prob the last 2 years…thank you for this video cause omg WHY IS IT HALF CARDS LIKE “FALLOPIAN TUBES”?! im sorry, i would understand pregnancy as a cycle because that I can kinda see. So I can tolerate something like that *as a single card in a 50 card deck*, but to be half cards like “fallopian tubes…cervix…uterus” like how would I even read those cards if they came up that’s such a choice Sorry for the run on rant, I just had to say something cause I was flabbergasted and now I don’t feel like actually punctuating my word vomit 😂

lol, really enjoyed your video. I'm with you on the Oak Ash and Thorn. I've watched so many walk throughs and tried so hard to like it, but it just doesn't grab me. Artwork is lovely, but I just don't connect. Same as Isis oracle and many other Alana Fairchild and all the Rebecca Campbell and Danielle Noel artwork. Keep being you, but I think many creators and publishers would be very fearful of you doing a review on their decks. Has any been courageous enough to send you any. Honesty is awesome, it's very refreshing. Keep it up

Another fun video! I think your points on the ghetto tarot (tarot of bohemian secrets) was important. I found out about the deck after all the initial controversy and decided that as long as the artists are getting paid, I felt comfortable using the deck in honor of their creativity and art. However, I think the author/photographer should have had less of her voice, and more of their voices in the deck. I felt like I wanted to know them, but she was standing in the way.

Thank you for mentioning the misuse of “thee”, “thy” and “thou” in the Seasons of the Witch decks! I felt like I was the only one who noticed it and it bugs the ever loving crap out of me! It was the only reason I was hesitating to get the decks because aside from that I love them. I’m surprised that a mass market publisher wouldn’t have had an editor check that the language was actually correct, but then again they might not have had someone on staff who actually knows how to use “thee” and “thou” properly. SO glad that they stopped using those words and the poem style writing after the first few decks. The newer decks only have little phrases on them that make more sense than the poem style. (Not gonna lie though, I do still intend to have all of the decks, because my need to collect them all overrides my annoyance at some of the words… I just try not to look at those words lol)

I really feel the 'I imagine I'm a different person vibe'. I have bought so many decks for a much cooler version of myself. A year later, I look at it and go "Who the hell do I think I am? Not this person, that's for sure." Then I hang onto them for another couple years anyway. Hush Tarot is one of those decks for me. And agree, it is disjointed, though beautiful.
