Quick kiln unloading with some Amaco and Mayco glaze combinations.

Lots of great pots in this opening! I think I may have been the person with the combination of the wasabi and rainforest ( Maybe, could have been someone else). I call it Florida Seafoam, with 70% Wasabi, 20% Rainforest and 10% Mixing Clear.

Absolutely my favorite kiln opening from you, thank you for sharing your glaze combinations, I've use your Noris Blue / Muddy Waters combo never disappoints! I'm going use Noris Blue / Sandstone next. :)

Love norse blue and sandstone! It has a tendency to move for me, so be sure to use a cookie.

Thanks for the combos, I have lots of those colours and will give some a go. I have muddy waters too, I don't like it on its own either.

Hi Jessica, I rarely ever write comments. But I just had to tell how beautiful your pieces were in this kiln opening! 👏🏼 I had a few favorites that I will be trying out. May I ask you for details on your application of your mug towards the end? It was Frosted lemon with Aurora green on top. That mug was stunning! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Thank you for sharing and all your hard work! 👏🏼😊 Also, yes your sons mug was beautiful! Great job! 👏🏼 I’m a grandma. I know you were so proud with his work! 👏🏼💕

Thank you so much!! That mug was 2 coats of Frosted Lemon on the outside (3 on the inside), with 2 coats of Aurora Green on top. The Aurora Green really didn't move very much, I applied the glaze pretty much right up to where you see it. I apply my glazes with a big fluffy fan brush, so 2 coats for me is solid application.

When I'm using Mayco glazes, I do two coats of each. I apply my glaze with a fluffy fan brush so it goes on in a somewhat heavy coat.

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful pieces. At 21:14, the beautiful daytime/night time mug with Norse Blue at the top, did you add any wax resist above the underglaze transfer?

I don't wax over the transfers. I apply them to the pieces when they are leather hard, then I bisque fire them. When glazing, I cover the transfer area with Amaco HF-9 zinc free clear x2 and then glaze around that area. I use brush on glazes, so I have a lot of control where they are applied.

Where do you get your transfers? Have you done a demo on making the mug with transfer? I came out so beautifully.

So far, I have been using transfers from Elan Transfers and from Sanbao (China Clay Art). In my opinion, they both work equally as well. I haven't done a demo video yet, but that is a great idea!

at 26:06 Blue Hydrangea over Eggplant (both Mayco) makes for a gorgeous purple

How many coats of the honey flux, raspberry mist, lavender mist combo? That was beautiful!

Thank you so much!! That piece had Snow x3 on the inside, Winterwood x2 on the outside with Honey Flux x1 over the top 1.5 (ish) inches.

Thank you so much! The only piece in this load with flux was the peacock bowl. I did use Amaco's Honey Flux on a few pieces. The two pieces that had Sandstone on them did not have any Honey Flux.

The bowl I love is at 4:40. You got a beautiful flow with the 2 coats of sandstone.

For the pieces with frosted lemon do you use 2 coats?

I usually use 2 coats of the Mayco glazes. I looked back at my notes and for some reason, I used 3 coats on the bowl, 3 coats inside the mug (2 on the outside) and 2 coats on the inside of the cup. I don't really notice a difference between 2 and 3 coats as long as you are applying a decent coat each time.

Why not use extra kiln stilts to fill in empty space = more even heating........ ?
