Hi Teresa, Definitely RED! I like how it pulls out both the red floss AND the subtle red in the pink fabric. Scratch THAT itch - do what you love. I am changing what I do to, and to not make everything a slog or chore. Fine is fine - Enjoyment always. I am probably going back to Aida - the Aida fabric of today is so different from the cardboard we all suffered from in the late 80s/early 90s. Plans are not ever rigid, else we'd all be manic! Your garden tan is lovely, as is your garden! Of course you're focused on your boss's present... Get it done. You are blessed to have garden and family time! ENJOY! Hugs

So nice to see a video pop up. I love both your fabric choices, but would use the green. It compliments the pink and frames your piecing so the stitching is the star. The red fabric draws my eye first and the stitching takes a backseat. You could stand 10-20 feet away from your project and see what effect you like. When it’s too close to your eyes, you don’t get the whole picture. Enjoy your summer and have lots of fun with family and friends. ☀️

If color doesn’t matter in the room your are adding this piece to, and you said you wanted to change them out seasonally, I would use the green because it seems more summery and light. Lots of considerations, too many probably for a stranger to be worrying about. Lol. You are really fun to listen to.

Good morning from Australia, my suggestion with picking the colour is to put it on display with just the one colour, and place it some where you will walk past is regularly, have it on display for a week, do this with both colours, you should find that the right choice for you will be the one that you stop and admire. The stoking is looking amazing, I was tempted to them ages ago but decided they where not for me, but I am glad you are loving it.

Red because it makes the stitching pop. And, it won't disappear against your grey decor. It really depends on how much contrast you prefer. I don't like blendy which would be the green. I love high contrast which would be the red.

Initially, my eye was drawn to the red. But I do like the green too. The red pops out on it's own really. All that said, the one thing I would do is hold them up against the cabinet in the room it will be in and see if that makes a difference in which one you prefer.

I love both fabrics, so I can see your dilemma in choosing one! I paused the video to carefully view them. To my eye, the green has a much softer look for summer, and does bring out those green details in your stitching. The red is beautiful too, and compliments the pink, however, I kept finding that my eye goes to the bright red fabric first, then the stitching, whereas you may wish the focus to be your stitching, not the border fabric. I think the red would be great for a Christmas themed piece, where stronger hued colors would compliment the strongly colored border. Your stitched piece is light and airy, where the soft green enhances that effect. Also, thank you for the magazine reference! I am stitching Summer by the Cricket Collection and want to do a flat fold, so your recommendation is timely! Editing to add: The other consideration is which color not only compliments your stitched piece, but which looks best to you held against your cabinet that you will display it on.

I love the green - it reminds me of summer. The red is nice too, makes the red pop out! But if it were me, it would be green. Great finish!!! I bet it feels great! The stocking is super cute and keep stitching on it if it makes you happy Now back to Magwayen for me!!!BTW - I decided in late December last year that 2023 is my year to Sew What I Want When I Want! And its glorious! I failed miserably doing WIPGO, I tend to be a monogamous stitcher and in 2022 I started a bunch of new starts. So this year, its WIPS and my Evening in the Park Start, Magwayen and several Long Dog Sampers and if I am in the mood I stitch a small from my stash. So enjoy your summer and pick up your WIPCO in the fall!!! Hummmmmm I think I will get back to Magwayen today!!! LOL

Love both the colours but i would do the green, i think it will look lovely with the fabric. I would save that red for a christmas finish. I always have one or two projects where I use a much larger count that aren't full coverage, either a 14 or 16 ct aida. They are great projects to pick up when tired and make a nice change. It's a lovely stocking and it looks great with the pearl cotton. Don't worry about your WIPGO, due to work, my June and July are a write off every year because it's the busiest time of the year. I never put a goal on my numbers. When the number gets called, i then decide what i can actually do. I haven't done my June for one number and July may not get done either but they'll get done later in the year.
