Since Juneteenth is a newer Federal holiday I looked at various NHL teams’ X (formerly Twitter) feeds to see how they acknowledged its history.
Several teams such as Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators and Dallas Stars created posts on their brand pages. Other teams such as Washington Capitals, LA Kings and Seattle Kraken took education and advocacy approaches by amplifying black-owned business, black artists and community organizations. The Pittsburgh Penguins was did the absolute most by going out into the community, having Juneteenth Parade float and Juneteenth x Penguins t-shirts.
