Bad Apple!! played on Desmos but it's high quality with Bezier Curves

The squeakquel. Taking a bezier curve approach as opposed to linear approximations. The remix used in this video is slightly different from the song, but it's the only way I could get around copyright claims. Video sped up. Uses Desmos API, Potrace, Python PIL.

The thing I like the most is that this is technically vectorized now so you can theoretically have infinite resolution.

For some reason my comment keeps getting removed. I I'll try excluding the links I was gonna share and see if that works. Anyways... I have this recurring assignment where I have to draw various transformations of 2D and 3D shapes. I spend about 70% of my day for other assignments in this class already, so I wanted to expedite the process. I knew the app we were using had the solutions stored locally because it can check for correctness without internet, and after reverse engineering the app's REST API, I was able to get the URLs to each as SVG files (that it downloads ahead of time). From there it was just a matter of writing a Python script to parse the files, and draw them with my mouse to an Android Emulator. Specifically regarding Bezier Curves, I made a StackOverflow post on using them for mouse movement. I can't share the link here, but if you search "Pyautogui: Mouse Movement with bezier curve", you should be able to find it. Not sure if it's something other people would be interested in, but I've been considering starting a CS channel on other automation projects like this. I recently also automated playing the The Wikipedia Game, and I'm planning some IRL automation this Summer by building a watering system for my Chicken Coop :)

enhancement idea: would it be possible to use inequalities to get coloring
@Polar_Onyx
@Polar_Onyx 3 жыл бұрын
first you would need to find a function for every curve, there are like hundreds of curves per frame. also wouldn't the inequalities just draw from the line all the way to the top or bottom of the screen how would you make gaps
@connorcriss
@connorcriss 3 жыл бұрын
The lines are parametrics, so it would be technically possible but it would be insanely time consuming and not realistically plausible

This might be my favourite version of bad apple (and I've watched a lot of renditions). I just think it's even better than the original one, something about the lack of sharp edges gives it a very soft vibe and i dunno man, it's sweet.

It's specifically using the SID sound chip used on the Commodore 64 (released 1982). BTW, the generations of audio in computing are something like this (deliberately vague and overlapping dates): ~19xx (???) to ~1989 (Most had sound cards on their IBM PC-compatibles then): CPU-driven beeper, normally producing Square waves, that can theoretically create more complex waveforms through pulse-width modulation (very rarely done as it was very memory and CPU intensive). ~1977 (Atari VCS) to ~1991 (Release of SNES): Sound chips generating discrete base waveforms (e.g. Square, Triangle, Sawtooth, Sine, Noise) at varying pitch and intensity, with typically one channel allotted for sampled sound (rarely done as it was memory- and sometimes CPU intensive). ~1984 (Amiga 500) to ~1998 (North American discontinuation of Sega Genesis): Sound chips synthesizing waveforms from harmonics (typically of sine waves), these synthesized sounds often making up discrete MIDI instruments, typically one or two channels allotted for sampled sound (still rarely done for memory reasons). ~1992 (PC Engine CD) to ~2006 (Release of the Nintendo Wii): Fully sampled sound at CD+ quality, music arranged with individual sampled sounds making up MIDI instruments. ~1992 to present: Fully sampled sound, music entirely sampled out.
