Thanx for the tip! Another option I have found helpful is to cut a soft drink/beer can remove the top and bottom, cut it down the side and you are left with a flat tho often curled round piece of tin that can be punched in the same manor it sharpens your punches as well as your scissors 😉

Thanks for the tip Junk Journal Ideas, I don't have to buy a new circle punch! From watching your video, I have also gained insight and wish to share with you and your viewers. Now because the aluminium foil in the kitchen is thin where then if we use this foil to sharpen our circle puncher but has shown to get stuck, how about using a piece of paper like the last part of your video where you showed we can fold a piece of paper to give it more thickness to cut the paper so that it prevents it from catching and causing the punched hole to be ruined, same idea goes with the aluminium foil where we put a piece of paper to give it some thickness so it can go through the hole without catching. Now the problem is where would we place the foil in comparison with the paper? Don't know if you agree, but I think the foil goes on the side that first makes contact with the punching mechanism since this is where the sharp part has to make contact with a paper to cut, but upon insoection maybe it goes both ways since the pushing part is not the only part that makes the circle cut but the bottom part as well. It's like scissors in a way where the scissor edge is not only on one cutting edge but the other one too. So then maybe like how you fold the paper at the end of your video, we can fold the aluminium also but also remembering to "sandwich" a piece of paper inside the foil to give it some thickness.
@JunkJournalideas
@JunkJournalideas 3 жыл бұрын
That’s great news Eusebio! I still use this method to keep mine going as long as I can, I like your idea of sandwiching the the paper with foil I think it would make a difference, because the two blades do pass each other yes! Cheers Donna

Hi Donna, I’ve been researching hole cutters and am struggling to find a plier style cutter at 1.8mm. You mentioned that queer darker grey one (3/4”) is a good one. Where did you find it? Ironically I want to cut aluminium so hopefully it continues to keep sharp. I’m in Australia and searched Amazon eBay etc
@JunkJournalideas
@JunkJournalideas 7 күн бұрын
hi Jules, you can't always get the exact measure in mm, they mostly come in inch increments. but it does vary brand to brand. 1.8mm is odd size. I have these tiny 2 circle punches and you will probably find them in Spotlight 1/ a fiskars 1/16" which is 0.15cm it's really tiny (use link to see 3 sizes in this) 2/ a fiskars 1/8" 0.3cm punch rb.gy/6nrmtf these punches are in Spotlight or on Amazon. 3/ The grey box style are by far the best hole punches I have ever used, weRmemory keepers have them in 3/4 inch and they will last way longer and cut way better than other cheaper punches (even Fiskars). this is from ScapDragon Aus rb.gy/sl0v68 hope this helps you get started finding the right size. ♥︎♡☆🦋 crafty hugs Donna
