Started reading it from first issue, I like it. John's is one of the very few writers that I would buy a book without knowing what it's about. His stuff is just that good.

Yeah man this and Geiger are a ton of fun, I’m fully in for Johns’ Unnamed universe 👏 This was particularly fun for me I had an opportunity to do a First Look at the first three issues prior to release but to have this whole first arc in trade now, what a blast 👏📚

I have this one with me on my holiday but have yet to read it. At this moment I am reafing “The journey of Marcel Grob”. A true masterpiece about a 17year old boy/man who gets drafted by the SS and is confronted with what he’s done when he’s in his eighties. I would recommend it all day. But the Junkyard Joe tpb is the next one I will read. Really looking forward to it. 😃

Yeah definitely recommend 👏 I probably preferred Geiger myself but found both to be immensely enjoyable and the art is superb across both series

I just finished reading this book.... It is very good as I figured it would be from reviews on KZfaq and real life encounters.... There's just one thing that gets to me, and that is the fact that the creators of joe went after him and they should have known what it would take to capture him so why did they come how they came. They should explain more about his recapture. Why did he escape when they opened him up (did his programming again beat their attempts once they reactivated him) and why did they come with pistols when they knew they would need so much more??? I thought of these so quickly that I know they had to have thought of it also. I also think they could have done the revolation of him being a robot better but I do understand they only can do so many pages for comics like this, but it seamed to eccepting to quickly, but of of curse a good infobox(s), and or narrative(s), and or though bubble(s) may have solved this if written in a certian way.... but the story was very good.

@TheComicBookReport It's very good.. It introduces us to Junkyard Joe, Geiger and Redcoat with character profiles and bios. There are other characters that may be connected to the "Unnamed Universe " too. I know you don't like floppies but I strongly recommend Ghost Machine #1.

Gary Frank does some awesome work, my favorite story he worked on was 3 Jokers along with JMS. Frank's linework isn't as refined there as his modern stuff but it's a beautiful story. Just a heads up, Gary Frank wasn't on Midnight Nation, that was Jason Fabok. His style is clearly very inspired by Frank, though!

I thought junkyard Joe was more cartoony than I wanted. I just finished reading Geiger and I I liked it for its grittiness and realism whereas junkyard Joe is like a pretty low intensity no threats nothing goes wrong and Joe himself is essentially invulnerable and I can't think of one time where he had an exposed weakness. I kind of feel like it suffered from lazy writing. Most of the comic didn't feel serious or even believable. The ending really punctuated that. I don't even like the design of the robot. I felt like the artist didn't really have much to draw to show off his skill. I feel like I just didn't care about the characters, and that Joe's origin story was like everything else not believable. I would give it a d honestly for below average which does have me worried that there's no hits other than Geiger on ghost machine.

I don’t think this is an unfair review. I really liked this title myself but I see where you’re coming from. It is definitely a change of pace in comparison to Geiger and some of the swings it took were definitely different than I expected. I think in some ways the strongest bits of this storyline were in the first issue with him in the war. I also prefer Geiger, but I liked this story as well. The art I thought was absolutely gorgeous but Junkyard Joe himself was not the most captivating piece of it I think the way he constructed the settings in this work were the most visually grabbing. Again I enjoyed the ride and I’m eager for the future of this universe but I can see your perspective here. Thank you for taking the time to stop by and write this out 📚
