Just 121 Miles: Southwest's New Very Short Route

Southwest has planned around 930 domestic and international routes in June, based on examining its entire network using OAG data. The latest addition is Baltimore to Richmond, a particularly short airport pair that will revolve almost entirely around connecting passengers at Baltimore - which is Southwest’s fourth-busiest airport for June flights.

Yes, traffic on i-95 is horrible. It routinely takes 3 hours on just to get to DC from Richmond on the weekends and forget about it in summer. Most people will take the train between Richmond and Baltimore if they don't want to drive.

The shortest I have ever carried passengers on was FLL to MIA on the B-727, 29 miles. My shortest ferry was BKL to CLE, 12 miles.

2:13 Denver to Colorado Springs IS operated by Southwest, several connections every day from DEN to COS. Great network connectivity now available, from Colorado's second city. United has its own shuttle service on this route, too.

Delta Airlines used to operate Indianapolis (IND) to Cincinnati (CVG) which is about 100-120 miles away. Flight time was about 20-25 minutes.

That google map estimate on driving time is way off. I drove between the two cities in late March and it took 4 hours one way and just over 5 hours on the way back, thanks to traffic all the way from Baltimore to Quantico.
