When I took delivery of a brand new 2007 Honda Accord (in 2007 of course), clearly the dealer didn't do a proper PDI. The steering wheel had a deep nick, there was the sound of a screw rolling around in one of the doors, there was a hair trapped in the clearcoat of the rear bumper, and the bumper also had a scratch down to the black plastic.

Wow that's crazy. I wonder if it had some kind of shipping Damage or something had happened to it and had to get it repaired. And all the issues you arehaving are from that?

@@theoffroadingmechanic All the body panels looked like original paint and in 17 yrs of owning it, haven't noticed any signs that the car had any body work. My joke is that my car was built on a Friday afternoon before a long holiday weekend.

I remember watching some of those Hyundai pre-delivery inspections and was left being very bewildered at the things you would find.

Interesting they come 1/2 qt low on oil, hmmm. 2.0 Hydrid, only engine I would consider. No 1.5L, I've read that engine is going away. No loss, imo. As you do with everything, a thorough PDI. I feel pretty safe saying, not all of them done as thoroughly. Nice job!

Hyundai's quality control went way down ever since they started building them in Georgia USA. Some people say that even Honda's and Toyota's are not the same as when they were built in Japan.

I thought it was already bad when they were coming from Korea. 🫢 Cuz I worked with a Korean and he keeps up with the media there and everything happening with the vehicles there and usually it happens there before it comes over here. Like they are not happy with the brand.

This CR-V in red looks so nice. Really love how new CR-V looks like. Last year I was in market for a used car that's around 5 years old. CR-V was one of the choices. All cars I've looked at had a lot of rust underneath, while being only 5 years old. That put me off buying one. Ended up buying a Forester instead. Looked only at 2 Foresters, both were rust-free. Foresters seem to survive winters way better than CR-Vs.

No doubt that Honda has a rust issue. That is why there recalls on certain 5th generation CRV from different regions where they are more prone to rust. And that recall is to inspect and take photos of areas of the body certain mounting points under the vehicles for corrosion and it is a lot of pictures we have to submit. I think they're either trying to prevent this in the future or maybe see where some areas that can be an issue and could potentially be a recall.

@theoffroadingmechanic yeah my daughter's 2010 CR-V was part of that recall. Her's was all good I guess.

Surprises me with all of the technology in use in factories these days that cars still can go out the door with grossly obvious defects. When doing PDIs have you noticed differences between the vehicles leaving North American factories vs. the factories in Korea/Japan?

Korea there is no doubt about it there's a quality control thing there in my opinion not sure about it now been away from the brand for a while. But a lot of the Japanese brands we are getting now aren't even made in japan anymore. But I do feel that quality control in japan is better there than north America. But in my opinion there are other factors that contribute to quality control and that all boils down to money.

Anything issues we find on pre deliver is basically covered under warranty and any shipping damage will need to be claimed. I'm not sure how damages from shipping is done.
