Do you know if its dangerous to go the full lenght of a full 16.4ft/5m roll of 60led/m? Or its just the loss of brightness / control thats bad? Because its often harder to make the strips look good with added wires 😅

@@wisico640 Connecting at each end should be okay for that, ideally in the middle too if you can get away with it. It isn't dangerous but just looks crap to have it dimming along the run.

@@AndrewStrydomBRP yup it happened to me with a 32inch loop @12v. I had to reinject halfway through. Idk if its the same way to reinject but we're now working with 5v ws2812 & since its 5v its worst...

Yep, when I ran strip lights through all my can lights, and on top of my ceiling fans, it was much easier to spot solder them

@@mr.transposon5017 yeah, being able to join at almost any point can save you when you're doing under counter lights or cupboard lights. I had to join on at the middle of a strip in a cupboard because there was no way to get a wire from the end to the middle for a PIR sensor neatly. I do like the crimp on corners because they are a lot more compact than a solder joint, but that's about it.

Some silicone RTVs can release acetic acid during curing (not a gas) but you can get neutral cure RTV that does not do this.
