I'm a German and English is my first foreign language. It might sound strange to learn Spanish through English but it isn't at all! Paul's mini courses and their extensions are bettter than any materials I found in German. Because not only Paul's Spanish is excellent, but also his clear and correct pronounciation of the english phrases and sentences which have to be turned into Spanish. And the most exciting thing is: I don't have to switch between mother language and foreign language very fast, but between foreign language 1 and foreign language 2. So maybe the switch is even smoother because I'm in foreign language mode all the time :-)

It's the same with me, in fact I think it might be even better this way since Spanish seems to be closer to English than to German, specific structures and of course the different times are quite similar to the English equivalents. Did you buy the full course, because I am considering it? Viel Erfolg! :-D

I have evaluated at a lot of you tube videos for Spanish lessons especially when I have to evaluate them for certain schools, I must say yours is the best video lessons for beginning Spanish speakers up to intermediate speakers. In fact, when I teach my Spanish classes, I have used your way of composing Spanish sentences using your methods. Please keep these videos going. You are really good!!!! Thanks so much for your help.

I'm native Spanish speaker, and an English student. Your pronunciation looks very clear to understand, thanks a lot for it. And your accent sounds a bit like British (or Australian, etc), but it isn't a strong accent. It is very good. I already have the enough comprehension of English to clearly differentiate between the American 'r' sound, and the British equivalent long-schwa sound. You don't make a long-schwa but yout rythm and intonation sounds like European.

Descrubí "I found out" is the Yo preterite conjugation of Descrubir "to find out". Preterite is for a concrete event that happened in the past Por otro ejemplo, descrubiste y descrubió significa "you found out" y "he/she/it found out", respectively Hopefully this helps!

Paul, am I missing something here or maybe there is a difference I didn't catch but near the end of the video, about 24:35 you introduce still and yet. When you translated the sentence into Spanish you left the yet at the end. I thought I remembered in previous lessons you said the word yet would go all the way at the front of the sentence, as in, "Todavía, no supe cómo hacerlo." ? Es correcto o no?

I was never aware of the positive/negative distinction between the preterite of descubrir and that of saber (supe, etc.), Paul. I'm curious as to what your source is for this rule, as I was taught many years ago when I took Spanish in high school (you know, back in the Dark Ages) that "saber" is one of a handful of verbs that change meaning in the preterite (along with tener, poder, querer, and conocer) because of the nature of the preterite, so "supe" always means "I began to know" (i.e., "I learned" or "I found out") and can be used in the positive sense as well as in the negative sense that you're teaching here. In other words, if what you're saying is an actual rule of usage in Spanish, it's one that I've never heard in 43 years of studying, speaking, reading, and writing the language.

Latin America is crazy my friend. Forget rules. Lol. In panama the correct way of saying ‘i will send you the money’ would be like te enviarè el dinero. Panamanians just stay in the present and just say ‘te envio’ and they are talking about something thats not being done anytime soon. Also ‘ahora’ doesn’t mean ‘now’ as in ‘right now’. here it means in like 15 minutes. They say ya, ahorita o ahora mismo.
