The wall where you want a monstersa deliciosa maybe a bird of paradise plant may also work? Maybe you can still use the monstersa deliciosa in some other space? Regarding the mint you have outside it does smell nice but be aware that it may take over of your whole area where ever you decide to plant it. I am sure that you will make your new home look beautiful with the changes you have in mind of making. I really like how beautiful you make your plant arrangements look & it only happens because you have the gift of creativity likewise you will accomplish the same with your new home! God bless you!

Thank you so much Maria! Your comments are so encouraging :) I actually was thinking of a giant bird of paradise as another option for that corner. I've never had one so now might be the time!

I love your new space! I like where you're going with the bigger indoor plants. I just moved into my new house last year and started wanting to get more big plants rather than a bunch of smaller ones. Love that you love your ZZ's too, I love them and they are great for busy people! Can't wait to follow along to see how you transform your new place. Oh and welcome to the world of non stop weed pulling 😅

I am so so happy for you! What a wonderful new home! Thank you for a super cool video! As others mentioned, so much potential and what a joy it will be for you to unleash your creativity :) . I do feel the same about the larger plants. After we moved from 900 sq ft to 2500 sq ft, all of a sudden my little orchid pots looked weird all sitting in one spot in the corner, lol. I'm looking forward to seeing and learning what kind of architectural, large plants you'll place in your new home. By the way, I also have Kongo. I love that plant. I bought it after I had my interview at my current workplace. So, I definitely feel like a member of the same club (Kongo fans? ;) ) you belong as well. Again, thank you for the joy of seeing your new home!

Thanks so much Viktoriia! The bigger space is a bit intimidating, but I've just gotta take it bit by bit.🙂 I LOVE my rojo congo! Such a hardy plant! Big plants are the way to go.

I am so excited to see your progress as you continue on with the new garden areas in your life. I am seriously so excited for you....and somewhat jealous of your location....lol Can't wait to see where you are at in future videos. Also if I were you I would definitely try growing food outside in those garden beds. So FUN! I would LOVE having lemon trees, lime trees and anything citrus. Can't do that here in MinneSNOWta USA. I would LOVE to move to a place where it is possible to grow citrus trees. I would be in HEAVEN. I recently "killed" my Meyer Lemon tree that has been growing inside my house under grow lights. It did amazing outside in the humid Summer temps here but once I brought it back inside it just declined quickly and then died.....Sigh......Oh well. I will just have to stick to the succulents that work for me. The ones that I can keep alive under grow lights all year round. Enjoy figuring everything out girly! We will be watching........HUGS

I completely admire that you can keep cacti and succulents growing indoors given your climate. Most of mine indoors struggle. I'm so lucky with this new place and I'm glad I can share this with you so you can live vicariously through my videos! 💕💕

Another Sydney gardener here. Could the red stemmed plants in the side raised bed be Amaranth? - a quick growing perennial that will reseed easily. Is the citrus a Cumquat? It seems to have quite small leaves. In the kitchen could you remove the lead-light doors and just have open shelves…. A display of chopping boards would soften the black backsplash. Some bamboo blinds could replace the verticals otherwise Spotlight has some well priced wide venitian blinds - or maybe curtains from IKEA. Look forward to more videos!

Thank you! And hi! Re: citrus tree. I did think it had smaller leaves than my last lemon tree- but honestly I don't have much experience with citrus. I may need to wait until it fruits. Removing the cabinet doors is genius!! I did not think of that. The bamboo blinds are definitely on the list. Such great ideas!

Cool house. I really like the yellow glass panels in your living room. I agree with moving the plants to the jungle room. I moved most of my plants into one room and it helped cut down on maintenance time. I also transitioned my Alocasia to pon/semi hydro and self watering planters. It has cut down on watering time for them too. As far as weeding, dig them out. I’ve used weed fabric before and they just grow on top of it. It’s less weeds for sure but they will find a way. Can’t wait to see the progress!

Thanks for the great tips Adam! I'm curious to try out pon and also a little nervous, so I'll probably experiment with some low-risk plants first. The weeds in the yard are going to be a HUGE task.
@SeizetheclayMPHS

@@the.morning.chorus I was nervous too. I did loose one Alocasia to rot after switching it to pon. I have two (Jacklyn and Purple Cloak) in vessels with water growing some water roots before potting them up in pon. We’ll see if it helps.

Lots of area in your garden to personalise and have fun. I am excited for you :) Yes that is a mango tree and curry leaves tree. Trim the berries off the curry leaves tree. They are not edible and are not good for pets. I have a similar size curry leaves tree in my garden. The leaves toasted in a bit of oil flavours curries amazingly. The garden beds can be used to grow herbs if you don't want to grow veggies. Keep the mint in the garden bed otherwise it gets invasive. I too downsized on my indoor plants by putting them under shade trees in my garden. In fact they are growing better outside than when it was inside pampered by me :) I love your idea of Mexican themed patio with your cactus collection. Looking forward to lots of videos of your garden projects :)

Ahhh such great tips, thank you Gayatri! Noted re: curry leaf tree. A lot of people are also saying that about the mint, so I'll need to keep that in check. Definitely won't rule out putting indoor plants outdoors- as you say, they might grow better! :)

Another creeping fig on a trellis would be a nice cover for the plastic? Unless it’s too sunny 😊

Your side beds would look really cool with a rock mulch and your cacti staged in their pots over there. Weeds coming out the concrete, I boil the kettle and pour boiling water on them when the sun is out! It fries them 😂

Maybe you could put some of the house plants in the shady area of the harbour. Plants love more air and dapple light.

You have so much space! I love it! I have no idea what plants grow in Australia so I'll be learning with you, but if you have sunlight, bougainvillea is always a beautiful covering to use and would make a great background against that wall of plastic. You've really got your work cut out for you, but you have great ideas! KZfaq won't let me post a link in comments so I sent it to you on Instagram. A video from a southern california succulent grower. Your balcony always made me think of her even though they're not the same. I just loved them both!

I LOVE bougainvillea and think it'll be a beautiful covering. The one I have now grows so slow, though- I'll have to see if it'll be happier in the new garden. The new garden is a lot of space to think about and it's a bit overwhelming, but I keep telling myself I don't have to fix everything in one go!

I love❤ your new home! I love the idea of trellising behind Suc Mt. You'll need to spray weeds between sidewalk cracks with weed killer. Wear gloves! Maybe downsizing your indoor plants will relieve some of your stress. No shame! I downsized my collection from 100+ plants to @ 80 and it was a game changer. Your place has so much character and potential. I look forward to seeing your designs and changes.

So much potential! Can't wait to see what you do. I like the functional Jungle Room idea and I agree that having larger statement/sculptural plants for the interior of the house would be better! What I'm most excited about is the semi-circle arbor space and the courtyard mainly because I love cacti and succulents! Thank you for the tour!

In the courtyard, perhaps allow the sun to dictate placement of pots to meet the light requirements of each grouping? What an extraordinary collection you have! I hope you will do a tour of potted plants with ID sometime. It will be fun to see what plants come up in the various beds and it's lovely to permit the native plants, aka weeds, to flourish. All the best in your beautiful new home!
