Absolutely agree have the rounds come to you. A conveyor system to the splitter and then a conveyor that takes the wood away is the ideal woodyard set-up. Stay safe my friend

That loading conveyor is the nuts and would certainly aid in a one man operation. As I watch these videos of the box wedge in action I continue to be amazed at the scrap that’s produced. I cut and split firewood for my own use and just use a big box splitter, although it’s much slower I can control the size and shape of the splits much better. Just my humble opinion and observation.

It's awesome, been talking about making one of these ever since I got the 22-28, even have all the chain and sprockets. You just need an excavator or log grapple at the end of it and you're in good shape. With that 37 D you definitely need an excavator in the yard.

Great idea. I use an old manure spreader to move my split wood from my seasoning pile to my wood shed. I took the finger gear off the spreader, but left the drag conveyor intact so I can run the wood out of the spreader, to the rear, to stack in my woodshed. Keep up the great video week.

An old manure spreader would be ideal for feeding the splitter deck, could be run with orbit motor, could put up to two cords in one and you could split nonstop for quite awhile before getting back on the loader, wish I would have thought of this back in the day.Havent been in the firewood business for quite a few years now, makes me feel like starting again, especially when I see birch selling for $300+ a cord.

Would be a game changer! Might also be better with less of an angle so chunks wouldn't roll back down or off from it. Maybe a decent sized gravity fed hopper/funnel type area in the beginning of it to really load it up and funnel the chunks onto the conveyor for even more split time without stopping as often once it's loaded with chunks? Log lift on that part or load with equipment? I think it is way better than without it and with just a log lift on the splitter. Not that a log lift isn't nice on a splitter, but this is WAY better! Anyway, thanks for showing this. Again, brilliant idea to the folks that thought of this. Please pass on ideas to those folks to think about.

I made a hopper affair that was sloped on to the splitter deck that I filled with rounds, roughly half cord, with the loader, picture a ramp with sides that farmers load cattle into a truck with, only drawback was when blocks got jammed up in the hopper you had to careful poking them loose, had some pretty big birch(24 inch). Could split quite a few cords in a long day,my elevator to carry splits away was two bale elevators put end to end to make pile as high as 20 feet. I really like your splitter.

I'll send you a couple pictures of my setup. I made a rounds table that is 8' wide and 10' long and 36" high. For the top I used 4 sections of roller conveyors with 3 1.2" spacing. I put blocks under one end of the table that slopes towards my splitter. My splitter has a 30" wide x 72" long table on that side. The rounds roll down onto this table and are pulled into the splitting chamber with a rake. I load the table using my tractor and a manure tine bucket. The table holds 2 bush cords of rounds. It will keep you busy for awhile. I have 4 silage wagons sitting in my yard for the next update to it. One is already a hydraulic setup with 6' wide x 12' long steel apron fed deck on it. And on wheels. That one cost CAN $500.

It sounds like hammerhead attachments is working in the right direction to comer a corner of the market that has some need. We are trying to do something similar to that conveyor but we’re using an old homemade dump trailer to load the rounds into it with the tractor grapple . We have the trailer right up on the splitter like the conveyor but we lift the trailer to get the rounds back to the splitter . I actually think the conveyor method would have more control but we didn’t have an old conveyor to work with .

You could achieve something similar by setting 1 or more roller tables. If you see those up the right way anything on them will gravity feed down to where you want it (your splitter). Advantage no engine or electricity needed. I have no idea about price though. A powered conveyor does have some advantages, it depends on your situation and priorities to determine what works best for you.

I have been thinking of making just a static table. It just seem wrong that I lift them to move them to the splitter, drop them on the ground by the splitter and then lift them up again to get them on the table. I have a log lift, but just the same, it is wasted energy and my rounds are larger than I see se on most channels, so around 60-100 lbs a piece. Even a static table would be better than what I am doing. Now a table that moved the logs to me would be even better. Did that table have any height adjustment at the splitter end? Just seemed lo be low for my setup. Also it did not look very transportable. I dont always split in the same place.

Seems like this is built for firewood youtubers who get free promo equipment, or people who don't make a good business plan. Putting a 15k-20k splitter next to an at least 10k conveyor ramp, and then still need to bring the rounds to the conveyor or have that expense saw head. Might as well put that money down on a cheaper processer and save the effort.

But a cheap processor isn't going to be able to handle bigger logs, would probably be limited to around 12"-14" diameter wood that would go through it. AND a processor is going to require the logs coming in to be straight...processors are more limiting than many think.
