I always enjoy watching you folks transfer the chickens from the coop to the field. You never know what's going to happen...lol...

We moved our flock late at night, 11 or 12 ish because they would be really sound asleep, no flapping, just quietly int banana boxes cuddled together with lid set on. Stack the boxes in wheel barrow and put boxes in rolling hen house & take off lids.Done quietly and I think they just woke up as sunrise approached and jumped out of the boxes. We learned this method from a neighbor who took live birds to sales. It helped us because we had hideous allergies that chicken dust could cause to blow up. The morning after our moves I just picked up the boxes and dragged them to be burned. And your runaway hen shows up at 13:00 while you and Hil" chat. She wants back in the hen house rite now!

Yeah, our kids moved out, well a piece at a time during college, about 10 years ago (holy cow! I just realized how long it's been!!) and we did miss them but, it really is a new chapter that you/we will/have enjoy(ed). Hopefully, a few years afterward, you will be like my Pawpaw and have grandkids excited to run out to see if there are any eggs in the boxes, to ride on the tractor... I have so many memories being on the farm with Memaw and Pawpaw. They were two people way ahead of their time, but that's another story.

Another great episode. I just love these. I found myself with many questions about the egg mibile, the hows and the whys and how it came to be and lo and behold eventually you answer every question. That's what I love about your channel, when I have questions the answers are forthcoming, it never fails. Thanks again for putting a large piece of your life out there for all of us to see and enjoy.

You might want to use a French cleat on the nesting boxes so you don’t have to screw/unscrew each time you want to move them.

So nice to see your kids around to help out.. I really miss ours being around but they are all taking the journey of their own with their own kids and we have been on our own now for the last 15 years and getting used to doing our own thing, they are as well.

What a fun video!! It was wonderful seeing the whole family together working on a project. Hillary, I thought that Tire was low myself because as Pete said it was sucked down because of the rain and damp ground so don’t feel bad for thinking that I could not believe you nearly had 150 hands in that building. I guessed 50 to 60 by just appearance but clearly you guys counted them and I was way off and they’re a lot more in there than any of us realized❣️ I’m glad you all went out for lunch together. I’m sure you were hungry and ready to eat without having to cook anything after all that work. As somebody pointed out already in the comments, there’s a lot of work goes into producing food for the rest of us and I just want to say for myself thank you and God bless you for being willing to continue to raise food for people to buy at the market, etc. I live in the Midwest and we have not had a lot of rain, especially different parts of the state of Iowa. I am from Cedar Rapids and we had another unusual storm move in Friday night before dark and it came in fast for us, and lasted about as long as the sirens went off, but I was shocked this morning as I was traveling through Cedar Rapids to see once again, whole trees uprooted from the roots or just the base of the tree and on the ground. Many people & businesses have not recovered from the derecho storm three years ago, when we lost about 75% of our green belt I was really sad to see the destruction of our trees once again from a storm!! If anybody read this, please pray for the people in the Midwest, because we do get a lot of tornadoes or “swirl-type of storms & so much damage is done in tornadoes in a short amount of time. Anyway, I love your website Pete and Hillary and I thank you for all you do to make this world a better place because of the food you raise, but also providing humor and education to your followers.❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️ ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

@justafewacresfarm when I move mine I use corn crib tunnels. I place them end to end from one bldg to another..easy to count and no escapees😂😂

Hello to your whole family. Love your method of moving the hens. We too have the advantage of home-grown eggs here in Smithfield, RI. Our daughter owns @ 12 hens only. Keeps our family and friend with great eggs. We do pay less than stores are charging, usually $4 a dozen. Great eggs with mostly larger golden yolks! Be well and enjoy the summer. 🥰🥚🥚🥚

Hi Pete and Hil been getting timely rains lately which has really helped the beans/corn have been very dry but crops look ecxellent now / also my 50x100ft patch of sweet corn coming along nicely take care and love the vids steve from NW Iowa

In Indiana where I live, we we had no significant rain for about 6 weeks. But in the past week, we have had 1.5” rain, with more in the forecast. We are certainly happy to have it.

We got the net with double spikes that could be stepped into the ground because back in Ohio we need the extra support in the spring because the ground was so wet and soft. Here in Missouri it’s almost impossible to get them in the ground except for when it’s wet. Thanks for sharing.

I do the same with my chickens. I don't electrify the fence, some get out, but they go back by night fall.

We live in Scotland, and rain is a major player here. It was ssid a few years ago that the UK's main produce would be grass..😂
