Pete I'm pushing 80 and will never pull another engine of that size or anything that big mechanical. so I am loving every second of this super c rebuild no matter how far you take it. What you've done so far is exciting, everytime you put a wrench or socket to a bolt head I grunt with you, and am waiting for you to slip and skin a knuckle! not wishful thinking quite the opposite. But you've done great even in that dept. at least nothing you've shown us on video anyway. Can't wait for the next video I've been pacing around few days now waiting for this one thanks ever so much for taking the time and effort to video this endeavor. I know it takes a lot of work video wise editing etc. I for one really appreciate it. Thanks again for doing it and for sharing ECF.

I like to wonder, Pete, how many of your former colleagues in architecture /engineering watch your videos and wish they, too, had the guts to leave the business world. All of your schooling and experience in the workplace has afforded you the opportunity to acquire "just a few acres" to do what you love most: farming. Your wholesome content is refreshing and I'm glad you're getting the attention you deserve. Well done, sir. Sidebar: It would be fun to have you invite former bosses and/or co-workers on the farm to help with menial chores. Think Dirty Jobs. That would be fun content to watch!

Hi Pete, I'm really jealous of your encyclopedic memory of how those beasts go together, and how you take them apart with very little blood loss or broken fingers. If I was doing this project audio would not be allowable. Great job, keep it up, it's always fun to watch your episodes.

My grand dad had a Super C and a Super M. They were both stock except the M had a very tall high gear that was rumoured to have been installed by loggers before my grandad got it. They gardened about ten thousand square feet and farmed another 500 acres. The C did the garden work but it was stout enough to pull a 8' disc harrow with no problem. I also spent enough time ploughing behind mules that I know what "mule freckles" are. The C had enough power to power my granddad's sawmill if we were cutting pine but we used the M when we cut oak or hickory. I retired to Thailand, they have to take their tractors into rice paddies. Instead of adding more tires for flotation, they build a paddlewheel device that fits outside the tires. Regards!

Hi Pete,, The simplicity of those Farmalls made them so grate, and made them last for a 100 years at least. As one who still operates an M and a BMD older than me, (though with a Parkins Diesel motor both) I am thankful to have them around when needed. Both are All Round small job on the farm, easy to maintain. Cheap on fuel and spare parts... Love them.

Very interesting tear down of the Super C. With hydraulic hoses it reminds me of the Belarus 500 series tractors. The factory tractors have 2 hydraulic hard lines running from the floor boards to the hydraulic cylinder in the rear. But because of heavy vibration and other issues they tended to start leaking and weeping oil. So people replaced them with rubber lines instead. Draw back is in my opinion the rubber lines get into the way of your feet a lot and you can actually slip on them, while entering or exiting the cabin.

Gotta love old tractors... They were built to last . My uncle still has his Alis Chalmers he bought new in the 50's. He's rebuilt it a couple times , but given how much he's used it the last 70 yrs thats a fair trade... Farmall's changed America . The avg farmer went from horses to mechanized farming & immediately decreased his time in the fields.. It also increased the number of acres he farmed... I read a book years ago that detailed the influence steam tractors had on farming.. People in those days thought they were living in an amazing age of industry.. And they were.. I think many underestimate the influence steam had on farming.. They could run a 4 or 6 bottom plow with water & fuel.. They could harvest millions of acres of corn & wheat.. What the combustion engines did was turn a small farm limited by hours in a day into a farmer that could expand farmed land extensively..

Your video will likely be a greatly utilized reference for me. I’m currently just trying to keep the lube levels in check as this tractor is my 88 year old father’s favorite and he still enjoys doing odd jobs around the farm with it. Pete, I grew up on a 35 cow dairy. Until 1969 we farmed with only one tractor, a JD3010 gas row crop utility. It was then my dad bought a 1952 Super C farmall. The JD dealer had overhauled it with MW power pack pistons. It was a real animal. I spent hundreds of hours on that tractor running a New idea hay conditioner and also raking hay. Seeing your Super C has brought back many fine memories. Keep the great videos coming.
