Long ago, before the conquistadors, colonists, missionaries, and settlers came to North-America from Europe, there were thousands of tribes, clans, and peoples of various beliefs and customs living in longhouses, teepees, aps, and other dwellings; hunting, fishing, farming and gathering, only taking what was needed, and making the most of every animal killed in the hunt, or plant which had been harvested. While cultures and customs varied, all Native American beliefs were rooted in Animism, meaning that they believed the universe was bound together by the spirits within all natural life, from plants, animals, humans, water, and even the Earth itself. Keeping Native American culture alive through storytelling, we may learn a thing or two about the world we live in.

We need to do more than watch it. we need to have justice for the Aboriginal people

I was feeling tears well up inside me as well. I feel targeted starting with Politics leaking into dealing with bad press from the Media. I feel that press gets harder when we have a collective agreement that our Political Leader's are only bringing turmoil upon the land that once held much beauty. I feel like we live to the creation of junk food and junk living

I would like to see a video that describes what Indigenous people would like to happen *today*. I agree the history and the current conditions are bad, and Canada puts $10B yearly towards providing aid which apparently isn't helping. What do you actually want?

So far the best video that tells people SOME of the historic colonized attempts to get rid of the Native people of North America. So many wrongs have been done to us Native peoples and strange as this may sound alot of North American people do not know their own historic history of North America. Why?? The Education system needs to start telling the REAL STORIES to our children in schools. Yes, It is time!! Elsie from Toronto, ON Canada.

"Why don't you get over it!" as Australian white people exclaim to Australian Aboriginal people.The American Indians and Australian Aboriginal communities experience the same racism but on different continents.We, too, were ethnically cleansed and separated.With you in spirit.

This is a beautiful film. Wela'lin, Meegwetch for doing this. I did a musical in Charlottetown called "The Talking Stick" with Aboriginal youth saying this very thing. There's a song that a very courageous young man,sang for the public. "Doesn't Matter Anymore". He went sang from his heart. He reached thousands this summer. The only way we're going to stop the Ugliness, is keeping up the conversation, informing people, battling ignorance. I'll be passing this one on.

The Residential School System STILL exists. In the form of the Ministry of Children and Family Development. And more blatenly in the form of Vancouver Aboriginal Child and Family Services Society. I am proof of this. I have been embarrased to be dragged under this system and my children held as bartering tools in the court system. My experience started in 2012 as a result of my partner's past...MY PARTNER"S PAST...HIS PAST. HIS PAST. Because he didnt do any harm to me nor my children and still has not harmed me or my children over the past two and half years under their investigation. I have been traumatized in every way possible. Its disgusting and an insult to my peoples what they are capable of doing. My goal...is to start a Class Action Lawsuit...and I am not the only one...over the two years we have heard many stories from other families of their harsh experiences. DIVIDE AND CONQUER. #Iamaboriginalnotinvisible

"getting over it" somehow implies its over..... but everyday there are still incidents of land being stolen, treaties being broken and NDNs being killed and mistreated. it's not over at all....

What a great video. The only part which I might not agree, is that I believe WE knew there were peoples across the big water (Europe) even if we didn't know much about them. Ojibwe legend states 'We come from the East, across the big water. Never forget."

But, if that's what it takes - so be it! Now with the #IdleNoMore movement, i want to believe that this will continue to grow and be supported by all Cdns! We are garnering world wide attention - AU aboriginals should be on board as well!
@Landozine13 жыл бұрын
That was really well done. Definitely drives the message home.

The vast majority of that goes to support government departments and transfer payments to the provinces....... we do not get 10B per year. That is a myth.....
