I discuss and rationalize a side to one of Dragon ball's most controversial topics. For years people argued and made outlandish claims. Even now, we still have common misconceptions about certain things pertaining to the Cell arc that shouldn't be so. I explain and discuss the misconeptions whilst debating my point of view concerning the "Senzu Bean" incident. All for fun discussion, I'd like to help explain Goku's actions so that we can finally move on from Dragon Ball's unfunniest joke. Gathering thoughts!

I never thought Goku was a bad father, however giving the senzu bean was still a bad idea, Goku even said it himself he wish he used it on himself instead of cell. Goku was planning on going to help Gohan fight cell after piccolo gave him his pep talk but cell took the senzu beans away from krillin, if goku taken it while he had the chance he would’ve been able to help Gohan defeat cell and with his father by his side Gohan will feel more confident in fighting cell and wouldn’t be as scared ultimately leading to a happier outcome and Goku surviving

I always assumed it was because he's a dumbass of a bad father who wanted Gohan to have a fair fight the way Goku loves a fair fight too ...but now i see why . So that cell would drive Gohan's anger up

Except what about that cell has saiyan cells which means goku not only healed cell but powered him up further since he decimated him near death and healed him.

I think you are referring to the Zenkai boosts that Saiyans get when they are put in a near death experience. The problem with using the Zenkai boost as a way to say that Cell got stronger here is that Cell had initially regenerated from the Warp Kamehameha and he needed to use lots of energy to regenerate they even say that his power had dropped because of that. But Cell had basically healed up from his regeneration meaning that he was no longer in a near death situation so when he was given the Senzu bean, all it did was restore Cell's initial power.

I am gonna say something that makes no sense warp Kamehameha should kill cell sense the kamehameha blow the brain cell who make him regenerate part really and only if he lied but we see him regenerate again after his blow up in the kaiosama planet soo it should'n been alive

I thing is the warp Kamehameha destroyed Cell's entire body including his brain on a similar level to the Cell's desperation explosion, but both weren't stron enough to destroy the core in his brain on a cellular level as neither were as powerful as a full powered Kamehameha from a SSJ 2 Gohan. It appears the super computer had already accounted for Super Saiyan level attacks including Cell having his body blown up by himself or someone else (Goku). What it hadn't accounted for was the raw power of SSJ 2 Gohan. Even during that fight, we never got to see how powerful a full powered SSJ 2 Gohan going all out was.

If DBZ Kakarot's quest for Cell is anything to go by, then it insinuates that Cell was either lying about the location or can move his core. It's also possible the Kamehameha just wasn't strong enough to destroy the core.

@@ZeroDividedByZero It's a plot hole that's is easily explained and also narratively implied. If it was an actual plot hole then Cell regenerating from his explosion that included blowing up his head, would also be a plot hole.

@@banshotenin1178 It can be explained but through head canon. The only thing that insinuated Cell was lying was Kakarot, which was obviously only there to fix the plot hole. Even the original dub tried to fix Toriyama's mistake, funnily enough.

Well I mean to me that was obvious even as a child. Maybe I just payed attention to different things for you to have to explain this. But, that doesn't make Goku a good father. He still spends most of his time wither fighting, training or being dead. All of which away from most people due to the immense amount of power. And yes I did actually understand back then. It's why this was my absolute favorite transformation until ssy4 came around.

He was dead both times for Gohan's sake. And decided to stay dead because he believed being alive threatened Earth. Excluding death; he loves to train and fight because he's a Saiyan, it's in his nature. Toriyama's gone on record to say that familial connections are rare for Saiyans; thus even for Goku, his family are more like companions. It doesn't make a lot of sense to judge him by human standards considering this. But when he was alive, he hasn't had any real "bad father" moments besides arguably leaving to train with Uub.
