Present trunks is basically opposite spectrum future gohan. Future Gohan has always had the potential to become stronger than anyone like present Gohan however since goku died and didn’t train him he never reached his full potential whereas present trunks never went through any of the hardships that future trunks went through so he has no reason to reach his full potential, basically one never had the opportunity to and the other has the opportunity but no drive. So unless an arc comes out about goten and trunks training to become stronger, which it looks like they’re making them a set tag team duo rather than singularly strong themselves, this won’t happen.

Conceptually UE is just not as cool and unique UI is auto defense and counter with massive stat boost UE is just power growth mid-battle. Something Saiyans already do, especially Broly Not only that, UE’s growth condition is taking damage while Broly’s condition is enraged. Enrage exchange skill for raw power boost which has many drawbacks, but at least it does not weaken you like taking damage do. As we clearly saw, there’s a certain breakpoint where the power decrease from taking damage would even out the increase from UE, and then any more damage taken would just weaken you. There’s many types of “get hit, gain power” ability throughout fiction Vegeta’s UE falls into the lower-end of it where users actually take damage but the growth rate isn’t worth it. Imagine it in game mechanic, you gain 99% dmg boost at 1% hp. But if your opps can beat you to 1% hp then they’d already outmatched you anyway. For Vegeta the hp to power exchange rate even get worse overtime until it reach zero beyond the breakpoint The better version of these type “take hit, gain power” would be something more like Sebastian Shaw from X-men (comic) where he absorb the hits taken so he gain power boost without any injuries. Shaw does have absorbtion limit where the energy overload would knock him out, but below that limit he just doesn’t take any injuries and thus could keep fighting

Fun fact: Despite the fact people say he hates Goku due to the crying he actually doesn’t, in the Japanese Dub of the Z Broly movie Paragus explained that Broly actually sensed Goku’s power when he first arrived on the trap planet/New Planet Vegeta (Specifically in the scene where they were sizing each other up and everything faded to black except for them and their auras.) and that caused his saiyan instincts to go out of control which made him see Goku as a powerful opponent he wanted to fight and kill, the crying had nothing to do with it. He says quote, “Could it be Kakarrot? Does this mean that Broly’s instincts as a saiyan have been awakened by Kakarrots power, and he is starting to overcome my mind control?” Also in the JP dub he only knows Goku’s saiyan name because Vegeta said it right in front of Broly.
