I’m an old school racer from way back and really enjoyed this video with all the history. I still have two sets of Isky blue anodized BBC rocker arms that I bought in the 70’s, they are the original “wide body” rockers and they are bullet proof. This young man reminds of the old days when a youngster was inspired by his father and grandfather drag racers, good stuff.

Very very very awesome well put together car! Truly one of a kind. My grandpa is a nostalgia drag racer, true 4 speed guy. Him and I race a bracket series at the local track with a 64 falcon with a 446 small block and a Jerico. Only guys shifting. We get our ass kicked sometimes. But it’s about doing it with family and being true. I love everything about your car and the purpose of it. Being able to grow up and learn and hear stories about nostalgia drag racing is one of the coolest things ever. Not many people get that. Keep it alive man! I envy you and your car.

Man, you don't have any idea how much I wanted to see someone who appreciates the magnitude of the story that needed to be told here. I was blown away watching Justin's appearance on the Hoonigans channel. I had to watch a couple of times to understand everything he had been telling those clowns, about the build. They just kept running their yaps, not even processing what he had been telling them. I felt like they were just flat out disrespectful to their guest that day. Justin, this build is amazing! WOW!! I think it's an incredible tribute to your grandfather's life's work. A lot of little details, all on point. I had the honor of working on a pair of the old big block Chevy Hemi heads back in 2002-2003ish at a shop I was working at in Phoenix, AZ, just a quick refresh, valve job and resurface. I had the utmost appreciation for what I had in front of me. I'm glad you were able to tell the story, where it was meant to be heard. This thing is beautiful, I absolutely love your twist on it. And the way you showcase the engine, I could go on and on. The movie inspired details as well as the historical, California race scene parts and pieces, way cool man. I'm sure your granddad is beaming down on you with joy, just appreciating all of your thoughtful intent and execution of this build. Ben, bravo sir! Your work just keeps getting better and better. I look forward to seeing more and more of your work. Spectacular! Keep up the great work!

My first car is a 1966 Chevelle. It had a 230 6 cylinder and I replaced it with a 427 that my neighbor corrupted me into building. He and his best friend Dave Chun are/were big block fanatics. I outran a policeman and lots of other people with it and it still runs great with its Isky Z-33 cam. I bought another 1966 Chevelle because I needed a convertible. It has a 283 with a power glide. I just bought a 1966 El Camino last week because I have always wanted one. It has a small block and no rust which amazes me. It’s solid. I’m just going to drive it until I figure out what to do with it.

Saw Justin’s car on the Hoonigan channel a few weeks ago, excellent ride but the story makes it even better. I’m a total sucker for the family connection and the honor this build brings to his family. As always I appreciate Ben’s work and his wonderful family, love this channel.

Thanks for sharing Justin’s story! I really love how the car turned out and that amazing sound it has. Best part of the entire thing is how he has so much of his family in the build. I’ll definitely be doing my research on those cylinder heads, pretty darn cool!

The first gen smallblock that accepts LS heads is a World Products feature that always fascinated me. Then to use the Arias hemi heads on one is very frick'n cool. Not you daddy's smallblock. That thing sounds great and must have some brutal acceleration. Did it all HIS way! Great story.

Amazing story and video, really shows how the connection between a man and his car is so much deeper than something cool to look at or ride in.

Man I can't say anything that hadn't already been said in posts except you have a very unique ability to connect the subject to the audience. I come for the car in the thumbnail and end up caring less about the car as I do the person you're presenting. Quite a tribute, you're the real deal man.
