Best video I have ever seen on this problem. Everything I wanted to know, answered. I am post posterior cervical spine surgery May 2021. 84 years at the time. Slow recovery and still painful hands, stiffness in neck and shoulders, muscle spasms, etc.

Unfortunately I blamed my symptoms on MS and my Neurologist never told me the MRI spine radiologist findings of severe spinal stenosis of C5-6. I would have had surgery 6 years ago. I told my Neurologist my symptoms of spinal instability and in the morning hunched over completely. My new doctor told me “I had a little arthritis “. I told him I got the report and reread severe and moderate to C5-6, moderate C4-5. I guess he assume he could save the Canadian B.C. Health care $$ since I also have MS and and being female so mot worth treating me. If not, too busy to read the Report in its entirety or he is covering up for the Neurologist neglect of not referring me to a Neurosurgeon. Will be filing a complaint and getting a new Neurologist and doctor. Had to pay for a private MRI of the lumbar spine. I have a disc bulge pressing the L2 which could be causing my drop foot and never from MS. I could have mild MS all these years not knowing it was spinal stenosis myelopathy. I even asked my Neurologist to refer me to a spinal surgeon and she refused. Strange! I also had to demand my doctor GP after I spelled out to him in detail of each part of the spine and severity.

I was scheduled for surgery in a month (ACDF C4-C6 for cervical myelopathy). I canceled everything. I'll just learn to live with it. I think it is being blown out of proportion. I will be 64 in a month so it doesn't matter any more.

I got mine this summer and feel fantastic. Feels like a whole new neck. You’re doing yourself a disservice and being a wimp

@@pgaquigz1125 it’s not “being a wimp” when doctors routinely warn their patients, mine certainly did, that symptoms may return or get worse.

Yikes! 😲😥 Thanks for making this video. I had a neurosurgeon check my neck last week. My cervical spine is a freak show, but I'm having surgery soon. My THREE narrowed areas measure 11, 9 & 6. Two are congenital.

I have 4mm and leas than 4mm at C4-5,5-6, and 6-7. it looks extemely bad on MRI to the point it almost looks severed. however I have no symptoms other than neck pain and hand cramps. I dont know if i need surgery or not and how long I can last without surgery :-(

@@impeccablebeats0448 yes. You should check into surgery! You can do permanent damage to your spinal cord. Your brain is not getting enough oxygen. I'm doing much better now. I also had decompression surgery for Chiari Malformation. I'm not back to normal but I was heading towards a really bad future.

@@meredithkester1440 Thanks Meredith! Whats the name of the surgery you ended up having? Did you have symptoms before the surgery? I am happy to hear you are doing better!

@@impeccablebeats0448 I had a posterior and anterior lamanectomy . Basically fused my neck it the front and back c2 to t1. It braced my spine so that my discs wouldn't move in towards my spine. The situation prior to surgery affected my autonomic nervous system. Most of my body's automatic responses and settings were off kilter. Including Temperature regulation, mood, digestion, urinary continence, breathing, even my salivary glands etc. I could barely move out of my bed and my mental processing speed was so slow (brain fog)

Thank you , can the symptoms of a spinal cord contusion return and get worse after it has improved well..?

Can this condition cause nystagmus? I have all of the symptoms of myelopathy but I also have nystagmus and random fasciculations throughout my body at rest.
