Jesus didn’t find it difficult to condemn sin or call a spade a spade. He called religious leaders “whitewashed graves “ to their faces ! He wasn’t trying to please people by tickling their ears.

When the Rich Young Ruler walked away, he was sad because when Jesus says ‘Follow me’, He expects us to leave our own agendas and find true life in Him.

Welby's job is to uphold the Faith and have the strength to defend it against increasing levels of disbelief and derision. He is not doing that well. He is more interested in trying not to offend anybody. This attitude goes a long way to explaining why the pews of the Church of England are now so empty.

I grew up Anglican. It is no wonder that it is dying with leaders that give no direction because they are morally confused or just plain cowards. Take a stand, Mr Welby, one way or the other, you are busy collapsing your church.

The greatest sin for the Englishman is to be disagreeable. Thankfully holy Scripture, demonstrates that the prophets and the apostles were not afraid to be disagreeable for the sake of the Gospel and holiness.

Here's what the apostle Paul said about 'Church unity': "It is good that there are divisions among you, so that those who are RIGHT can be clearly seen" (1Cor 11:19). Or, 'God's Word' translation: "Factions have to exist in order to make it clear who the genuine believers among you are."

Welby says a lot of nice words but does not address the question.

To love somebody is to tell the truth that sin leads them to hell, but the gospel leads them to power over sin. Mr Welby, time to tell the truth. It won't be well at the day of judgement if we don't know the truth!

As a Christian it’s important to trust god has our best interest at heart when we hand our lives over to God we can find a lot of peace in how our lives have panned out.

How on earth can you affirm in Christ an identity which is inherently rebellion against the identity God has already given you?

"Go and sin no more" is pretty explicit. Love is the desire for the good of another, and that means looking to their eternal destiny.

We are called to be one but not at any cost.

Surely, as the supposed chief teaching elder of the C of E, Justin Welby’s job is to give a lead to his flock on what is the clear teaching of scripture, to refute error, and to protect them against false teachers. He calls the reformation a tragedy, that which brought the scriptures back to the people, and more than that the true gospel? He equates the organisational church then with the true invisible church. To disagree well is not a scriptural imperative but we are urged to agree.

I agree, Harry. We must pray for them, since they are leaders of The Church and have a global voice. Paul's words were true in his 2nd letter to Timothy, chapter 4.

God is always right man is always wrong unless man agrees with God & his word.

All of us are sinners, full stop. But the Church as the Body of Christ is made up of those who have come to a place in their lives where they recognise their sinfulness, repent and receive the Holy Spirit. Then begins the process of transformation and sanctification.

I recently listened to a debate between an episcopal bishop and James White. I was floored to hear the bishop affirm homosexuality, evolution, old earth theory, and also denying the inerrancy of the Bible and the trinity. I was shocked but it seems this is the status quo. Apostate church.

Justin gets it right. If he had taken a stance on sexuality, people would have taken it as reason to ignore everything else he said - which was stuff far better grounded in the Gospel than pro/anti LGBT.

So glad to here from you dear Bishop wonderfully said about the unity of the Church. But the saddest point of this is that there is no unity here in India specially the land of Kerala. As you had mentioned about being removed from the church. Then whats the point of preaching about unity and love of Christ. Kindly request you to pray for the unity in India. Wanting to be approved of does strange things to people.

A great shame has come to the C of E and to countless other ‘churches’ who have become woke too, in order to find worldly acceptance. Welby was asked what he now thinks and would say of this situation, in his response he never quoted scripture directly but gave a new interpretation to the word of God. This is a radical shift in understanding apostolic teaching, by ‘altering’ clear biblical directives and must be utterly rejected. Welby is a liberal, make no mistake. The apostolic teaching of the church has rightly rejected this radical leftist woke culture as a way of cleansing the church. It is simply impossible to misunderstand the written word for such an educated man. It is a wrathful folly to meddle with the word of God. But Archbishop Welby, "setting the ideal and applying the ideal pastorally" is not the point. The point is twisting the ideal to fit the culture and how that can in any way, shape, or form be considered correct and good within the Christian church.

Of course there’s a simple answer! And the Lambeth Conference 1998 gave it - after a decade of discussion and prayer. You’ve just got to enable people to accept it.

If we accept that all of human nature is somewhat tainted by sin and it's various manifestations, we know we need a saviour. However once we proclaim that sin as a normal attribute of life and acceptable we are stating we don't need a saviour. Christian love embraces the sinner but challenges the sin in all of its manifestations. Question is........what now is sin?

Archbishop Welby Scripture tells us how Love responded to "the woman caught in adultry." Love preached to the stone throwers and you rightly do so too. But Love also stooped down to the woman and said "go and sin no more." Is the direction that you are taking the church in line with this Love?

It is not the churches job to be judgemental, but to teach truth as in Jesus.

The simple answer is JESUS said that from the begining marriage was one man snd one woman. And the commandments say all sex outside of marriage is a sin.

There is the congregation, & there is the seeking Christian. I say not 'member', as do you reject someone for baptism on any grounds, though they say I am a born again Christian?

I live in Chicago and minster to young men in the notorious Cook County Jail. Many of the men I meet in there commit murder as a matter of course. They don't see it as wrong, but just a way of life on the streets. It would never occur to me as I approach these men to contemplate that maybe murder is acceptable or right. However, I always start by letting them know that their creator God loves them, is pursuing them and wants to be in relationship them. I also let them know that no matter what they've done Jesus stands ready to forgive them no matter what they've done, if they have studied their hearts and are truly sorry. This is the message of mercy. However, at some point, these men have to understand what is right and what is wrong. That needs to be stated clearly, lovingly and with courage. The approach I just described must also be taken with those who engage in homosexual sex. If I were to take Justin Welby's advice either in the jail or in communication with those engaging in homosexual sex, I would not be acting with the courage and love of Jesus Christ, but with timidity.

Homosexual behavior is still sexual immorality. The apostles did not overturn the definition as it has always been known. Indeed, they reaffirmed it at their Jerusalem council, and Paul in his ministry to the gentiles also reiterated it in some of his letters. And finally, one cannot truly LOVE another without being willing to acknowledge the truth - on this or any other issue.

What a horrifying world we live in now in the last 20 years. If you are Christian, leave England for Russia or even a Muslim country that has no gay marriage and LGBT and protects Christians like Indonesia or Malaysia.

Those who do not know what to believe. It’s so confusing. There are so many elements to the Christian faith. I’ve paraphrased much of what JW said in this interview. He knows how to be vague when he wants to be vague and how to be specific when he wants to be specific. Thing is… I’m not confused or seeking direction about my sexuality. I’ve already made up my mind. I too have taken his advice and read the Bible very carefully and have struggled to find an ounce of scriptural evidence to support LGBT. I too believe in love one another and would happily reach out to anyone that needed help regardless of their orientation or gender identity because I too see them as made in God’s image. But… The moral majority must have their rights respected as well. They too have a conscience about matters pertaining to sexuality and gender identity. And they have made up their minds to stick to the word of God and recognise the difference between sexual lifestyle on the one hand and sexual sin on the other.

The church of rome was based on paganism and christianity, if welby does not understand this,why is he in his position. Constantine amalgamated the two as the official religion.

I think Justin Welby needs to read the bible. Sin is sin, and its a sin. Romans 1 is all you need. When you truly repent you turn away from your sins, you dont continue in them. Justin Welby I would dread to be in your shoes when you stand and give an account before Almighty God for the apostacy you have brought the church into.

Read the contents of a book that contains texts and ideas that are 2,000+ years old. Then consider, might there be a possibility that some people have moved forward during that time? If it wasn't for clinging to the contents of this 2,000 year old book, the Christian 'religion' wouldn't have control, purpose or an argument. This, of course, can be applied to other 'religions' clinging on to centuries old texts. These systems were created in the days before enlightenment and human emancipation. When illiteracy was common place, fear of the unknown and those in power was rife. This was a perfect time for the elite to unite and create a control system for the gullible, vunerable and feeble minded. And so it continues. The assertion of relevance and control is what keeps them in the job.

I understand what he is saying, we cannot turn certain people away. My question is how do you prevent them from changing the tenants of the gospel because they will try to do this. Some will, some wont. I think he means well with a very difficult topic

Many years on, I would ask the Bishop if his desired fruit (church unity) has materialized based upon the changes made under his guiding hand. If not, time to ask the Holy Spirit if perhaps he allowed himself to be misled.

Archbishop Welby. In Christ's 7 letters to the 7 churches, Jesus strongly criticises sexual immortality. - Revelations 2:14 - Revelations 2:20 In both cases, Jesus' instruction is to repent. 1. If I interpret sexual immortality to mean sexual immortality and repent to mean repent, in what way might I have misinterpreted the bible? 2. Was Jesus failing to love the churches by calling them to repent? 3. For Ephesus, a failure to repent would result in Jesus "removing the lampstand from its place." Was Jesus failing to love His church? I would like to know how I might be misinterpreting scripture and therefore understand "what the Spirit is REALLY saying to the churches."
