since they put the tunnel in the trip to the port is very easy and very fast from fort Lauderdale most times i cruise out of miami usually its cheaper richard in fort Lauderdale

You can probably watch the ships from the port. I don't know where you would park though. There is a lot in front of where the Norwegian Escape docks, that you might be able to watch them from.
