Why do u not know about Pantera til now? Is the disrespect that serious u ask? The answer is simple. Heavy Metal bands that scream dont get airplay. Heavy metal in general gets no support & no respect in the industry. None, zero. ZIP. Pantera is GIGANTIC. They had a #1 album in multiple countries *WITHOUT* a song on top 40 radio. I watched them sell out an NBA arena *twice* in 90 days with NO RADIO & no MTV. *think about that for a second.* no really, think about it......... LITERALLY every album they put out is GOLD certified (even the live album). All but one is Platinum (million + in sales). All this......without radio, just based on an amazing live concert, combined with impressed audiences spreading the word. This led to larger & Larger crowds in subsequent tours worldwide. When Pantera came out everyone took notice. Even bands that had been around for a decade *before* Pantera admitted to being influenced by Pantera. When Vinnie, Dime, Rex, & Phil walked on stage & Philip said "We are the Kings of Metal" it was the *TRUTH.*

Metal is like soccer. Where soccer is the most popular sport in the world, but in the US its pretty much ignored even though there are millions of fans. With metal its the same thing. Metal gets treated horribly in this country. News will only report on it if it puts the genre in a bad spotlight. Ive seen my local news do reports about different bands/singers being in concert and selling out the arena but never when it was metal/hard rock acts. one more thing a study was done once and it was found which types of music had the most loyal fans, the top 2 were classical and heavy metal.

Before the internet, people used these things called LINER NOTES in the albums and cds which told you who wrote the song, who played what and what the words were. Of course everyone knew what the lyrics were because Pantera was MINDBLOWING. Phil's getting his cardio in here. Listen to the studio version and you can understand the lyrics. Can't imagine hearing Pantera as my first ever metal. Prepare to be really disappointed with every other band. Nothing is as great as Pantera. They were not heavily celebrated by critics or the media or awards shows. They were nominated 4 times for a Grammy and never won!
