@@Justin_tech hey Justin 😍 i’ve been scrubbing through all of your videos, so sorry if you answered this and I missed it, but I have huebulbs and a motion sensor. I want to use daylight as a switch automation, but I still want the motion sensor to be active. (e.g. I want the lights to stay off, but when the motion sensor detects motion I want the lights to come on at the adjusted daylight automation, not stay on constantly) is there a way to do this in hue labs? Or does the motion sensor just HAVE to be completely inactive?

Great video! What are the recessed lights / bulbs in the bedroom at time 2:29? Are those just regular recessed lights with GU10 bulbs? How does that compare to, say, the Philips Hue 4" recessed integrated light? I've been doing a major remodel using the 4" since I think CA requires new recessed light installs to be integrated, but like the look of the small light in the video!

Good informative vid for ideas and everything in general. I was wondering though - how you synced Philips hue led light strips (I assume those are Philips light strips around 12:45 ish of the video) to the sync box and do you have a video on this? - all the necessary items you need to buy? Because I was planning to add Philips light strips in the ceiling of my living room (where the main tv is) and buy the Philips hue play gradient light strip for behind the tv, but I want both light strips (the normal Philips hue light strips in the ceiling and the Philips hue play gradient light strip) colours to sync when movie mode is on 🙂 also I have a Philips hub if your wondering and the hdmi sync box

I was disappointed to learn that after buying the sync box, I camt have more than 10 lights in a zone. It's still awesome but wish I could add the lights behind me to the effect. Maybe they will update it?

Hi, First of all I'd like to thank you for all your videos-I am creating my smart HUE home and all your comments and advices were very helpful. Yesterday I bought a motion sensor and a hue plug-and I've got a problem with setting them. Maybe you could help me... I'd like to turn on the plug (which turns on a standard lamp) automatically when the motion sensor detects any motion. but unfortunately I don't know how to set the devices in my app. So far I added both to the same room, separately they work perfect, but when the motion is detected the plug doesn't turn on. If you could give me adivice how to do that I will be very grateful.

I will also agree they are way too expensive. It’s LED technology !! It’s been around forever. That said I have tried cheaper LED lights and they just don’t work as well. So I guess you get what you pay for.

@@tobydivine8502 I LOVE Hue, I have it almost everywhere inside my house. I really would like the quality and features outside, but I chose to just use standard low voltage landscape lighting. I would have paid a little more for Hue, but not 3x the cost. I don't want to sound too negative because I love this stuff, but a price drop is needed badly. Integration to add Hue fixtures to existing 12v low voltage wiring would be a great way to get those with systems already installed into the ecosystem as well.

That pendant light (8:29) is a Hue product, it has the LEDs built in. Of course you need the bridge to control it. And then you can control it with the Hue app, and HomeKit (and Alexa and Google Assistant etc.).

Hey Justin, another great video and so pleased you're doing the lights this week (my light strips arrive today, v excited!) I do have a query for you... I have normal intergrated LED spotlights in my kitchen (our home is brand new, less than a year old) which is great but I can't take the spotlights out of the kitchen ceiling and replace them with GU10s which is what I really want to do (they are built in solidly into the ceiling). How did you get your GU10s to be in your stove hood (pink cooking lighting moment, we stan!) as maybe I can just affix GU10s in my kitchen without having to remove the built-in spotlights I already have? Is this possible in some way? Thank you as always for this fabulous series and your help! :D

It’s odd to me that those bulbs would be stuck considering they will need to eventually be replaced once they burn out. The GU10s are a twist and pull type bulb and we simply removed the original ones and placed those. Perhaps yours are similar? Glad you enjoyed the episode and happy to hear about the new LED strips!!! 😄

@@Justin_tech Hey Justin, thank you so much for your response and help :) I checked with our home developers and they are fully intergrated into the ceiling - literally only a qualified electrican can get them out, like, wtf lol - so I'm going to go for the GU10s in our stove hood like you did, and I also saw that you can get independent Hue GU10 fixings for walls/ceilings, so I'm going to go for those too in the kitchen. Your videos have been such an inspiration to me - I went ahead and got the HDMi Sync Box as well, works like a dream - love having my lights in time to the TV and gaming! I love your videos so much - you're such a joy to watch and your knowledge is unsurpassable! :D

How to get you past the 50 light limit on a hue bridge? (Technically 63). We need to control about 100 lights.

I do have a question about the hue light strips and outdoor lights. Do you have to have WiFi to use them?

You do need wifi to use the app and program everything. Technically, Hue runs on Zigbee, not wifi, so you could turn them on and off and turn on scenes with an accessory if there is no wifi, but you'll still need wifi for setup. Some indoor lights only need bluetooth, but there is less control.

like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, kzfaq.infoUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....

This is a great and informative advertisement for Philips Hue. Unfortunately, their products are way to expensive for even high end homes. If you have one or two spots, then It's okay, but good luck outfitting your whole house at Philip's prices. Such prices might be justified if the bulbs were guaranteed to last 5x longer than the cheaper competitors, though, but I don't trust that to be the case.
