Not putting the G14 and G16 in the Gamers categories is weird? you can easily fix either the heat or noise issues by uninstalling Armory crate and replacing it with G-helper, then undervolting and making a custom fan curve, after these simple adjustment they become better in every way than the Omen Transcend and becomes suitable for creator use since they're so compact and light.

@@oscarswazi6412 And worst in usability XD No real ports, low GPU wattage, heat and fan noise even worse than gaming laptops, the same stupid unusable FN keys that even Apple learned to remove, high price even higher than an equivalent macbook (the base version is useless with a terrible screen and no dedicated GPU) The XPS line is destroyed, it is what apple used to be from 2016-2019, great looking device, but completely horrible in every other metric.

DO NOT BUY AN HP LAPTOP! Trust me, I have a HP Envy x360, it looks gorgeous and I was very pleased with my purchased at first. I also asked the guy from the store about the hinges, if they would be resistant enough. He sold me some crap about hinges that were tested to last for thousands of times. It's a lie. The hinges broke... twice. Now my laptop is not covered by the warranty anymore and my screen cracked because of the hinge breaking free from the cover. I can't close my laptop anymore. It's brand new on the inside and a mess on the outside despite infinite care and precaution. There are countless stories of people encountering the same problem, HP know and do nothing! It's way more bankable to make buy a new machine every year. Don't waste your money!

Same here. I have an HP Pavilion x360 and my first battery got killed, replaced the battery only for it to get killed AGAIN a few months later. At my third battery (less than a year old) and it's already at 0.15Wh of capacity AT FULL CHARGE. And it costed $1000 when I first bought it. Never trusting HP again.

Such a great video, I really like how you guys recognise how difficult is to choose a gaming laptop nowadays. While you guys do not include it under the gaming category, would you recommend the Yoga Pro 9i with an RTX4070? I do not play the most demanding games (mostly FIFA) and I feel like the laptop offers the same premium feel as the G16 but with less fan noise (and a smaller price tag!). Also...how was the battery life for the Yoga Pro 9i in real life use? Thanks!

@houssamalucad753 24 күн бұрын
As far as other reviews say the Yoga is a great option, as premium as the G16 but keep in mind a bit heavier, so the G16 might still be worth it if you're ready to do some tweaking to make it run quieter and cooler. But anyways, fifa is an easy game to run so even cheaper 4060 laptops would work for you just fine.

@PsychonautTV 24 күн бұрын
I got the 4060 32GB variant In premiere pro, even with my 10 bit 422 4K a7S III footage, it runs smoothly. it blows my mind. In gaming, i'm getting 350+ FPS in valorant at stretched 1.4K res, 250+ FPS in CS2 1.4K res, and 130 FPS in destiny 2 in 1920x1200... all while not having nvidia game ready drivers installed (because I'm using the studio drivers). I could get even more frames out of this thing, and I still don't feel the need too. I'm a uni student: if you put this thing in battery saver, 75% brightness or less, at put the refresh rate to 60FPS, this thing lasts the whole day and still works incredibly well. if you watched josh's dedicated video on this laptop, you'll see that it actually has the same performance as the G16 w/ the same gpu, but cooler and quieter lol

The main issue for us with those 2 is the keyboard. It is extremely uncomfortable compared to the ones on the list. I'd say it's a 4 out of 10. If you can handle that, the other issue you have to deal with is the warm chassis. The Blade 14's palm rest does heat up a bit. Its not the worst we've seen but it's there. If you can handle those issues, they are good laptops

great reviews ! I think specwise we can easily see that windows laptops usually have an edge, yet lately I have been thinking that usability is not included in the reviews; at least for commonly used softwares. My point, and doubt is that although a 32 gb windows pc could perform worse than a Mac Book with 18 gb? Going further, for example , rendering times might be lower in one laptop vs the other, but what about how fluid is using the video editor using 10-bit 4:2:2 files? what is the point if it renders faster if it is a bit clunky ? One more thing, is it me or Windows is getting too business oriented OS and not as more of a personal OS like MacOS?

Something I’m looking for in a laptop is a lowish powered discrete gpu in a light laptop that accepts standard USB-C power delivery. I tried the Flow X13 but had a hard time getting it to work with third party USB-C chargers, even at the 65 watt level that ASUS claimed would work. Supposedly the Tempest 14 has the same limitation. I don’t know why it has to be this way, my Envy 14 from a few years ago (with NVIDIA 1650) has a dedicated barrel plug but is still happy to take up to 100 watts through the single thunderbolt 3 port, and can accept much less than that too (though of course the battery still drains slowly if I am playing games and only putting in ~60 watts)

I picked up Asus TUF A15 with a 7940HS + 4060 (140W) for just $1330, I'd say it's nearly perfect, the build of the frame is very strong, hardly bends, performance is outstanding, in light and medium tasks the fans are turned off, you only hear them a bit while gaming at around 40db in Cyberpunk 2077 with path tracing (but with a headset you can't hear anything), the only downside is the screen being 1080p LCD (At least it's 100% sRGB, 144Hz), and battery life is okey-ish at around 5 hours of light use. I use it for mainly game development and gaming and it's been perfect.

Whats the best laptop for coding + gaming laptop with a amazing screen, that still looks somewhat ”proffesional”?😃 fan noise is no big deal if i can setup a manual fan curve and undervolt etc😀

Personally, the best value laptop I've seen and used is the Lenovo Slim 7 Pro X. It has great performance but, it gets quite warm while gaming. The best part is that it's regularly on sale for $800 at Best Buy.

Cant wait for thin laptops to start adopting LPCAMM instead of soldering them onto the mainboard , would really make the purchasing decision easier.

Between Computex next week, M4 MBPs launching in the autumn & CEX in January, the laptop market will have a whole new generation of models to consider. With major generational updates from Snapdragon, Apple, Intel & AMD, everything here will be outdated & seriously outperformed so only buy at a VERY generous discount.

Hi Josh! I noticed you've selected the HP Spectre 14 as your favorite laptop among 14-inch models for 2024. I'd love to see a review of the new HP OmniBook or EliteBooks featuring Snapdragon chips, and a comparison with the HP Spectre. Also, I'm quite intrigued by the Surface Pro Laptop. It seems a tad pricey, but I'm curious if it's worth the money. Do you think Microsoft-branded laptops can truly rival Apple in terms of quality and stability? Thanks!

Today I received my Lenovo ideapad pro 5 14 inch AMD 2024 model. As far as I know this model is not available in the USA or even outside Europe which is really unfortunate. I don't have that much experience yet but it seems like an good deal(84Wh battery 2.8k 120hz oled 8845HS up to 65W 16.512gb and a healthy amount of ports, including a usb-4 and a full size sd card reader another type c 2 usb A's and HDMI 2.1 and 3.5 mm)for slightly under €1000 with a student discount applied.

This is a pretty good list but I’m very confused on why you’d recommend the hp specter for casual uses and the 14 inch omen, the hp envys while not as nice go on sale for about 800 regularly have the same processor or 8840hs(so that could even be a good light gaming machine) and they have 16 gb ram+ 1 tb storage and they’re going for generally at or above 1000. The omen while it’s got good specs the plastic chassis is very flimsy while the g14 is gonna be significantly better build quality and cost less overall

Between the pavilion plus 14 and the spectre 14 what would you recommend for game dev (Assuming both had the 32 gb ram config)? This would be programming (C# and C++), art tools like blender, sound fx editing, etc. (also if anyone in the comments is reading this and has insight your knowledge would be greatly appreciated)

Should one buy a laptop right now or become a beta tester for the AI qualquom windows arm? Casual user that wants some ports (pref. 1x usb-a + hdmi), good display and audio, nice keyboard and trackpad, good battery life dedicated gpu not neccasary? Can we expect all programms to work smoothly, i use some niche programms for chemistry/biochemistry related tasks, they need some cpu performance.

(yelling:) Would you personally pick the Yoga Pro 9i or Zephyrus G16? :) Same specs, (Ultra core 9, 32gb/1tb, RTX 4060). G16 is 2400€ , Yoga is around 100€ cheaper in Europe. I do music production, and don't really game. I still have a couple of days to return the Yoga Pro 9i. What's odd is that the mini-led has a yellow tint that I can' get rid of. Honestly, I thought the build quality would be a bit better on the Yoga. I also have a Macbook Pro and its not close. I now you said the G16 is better in that regard (I didn't choose it because of the third fan). But now since the fan issue has been fixed, what do recommend? I love the G16 design, but think the display is better on the Yoga. Also, if the G16's third fan would kick in (could not be turned off) while I'm producing/mixing/recording, that wouldn't be ideal. Thank you guys for taking the time to make these amazing videos!

and that's why I bought this year's yoga pro 9i. i'm so damn happy, I just stopped using my PC overall. I'm a wedding filmmaker: premiere pro, even with my 10 bit 422 4K a7S III footage, it runs smoothly. it blows my mind. I'm a gamer: i'm getting 350+ FPS in valorant at stretched 1.4K res, 250+ FPS in CS2, and 130 FPS in destiny 2 in 1920x1200... all while not having nvidia game ready drivers installed (because I'm using the studio drivers). I could get even more frames out of this thing, and I still don't feel the need too. I'm a uni student: if you put this thing in battery saver, 75% brightness or less, at put the refresh rate to 60FPS, this thing lasts the whole day and still works incredibly well. **ALL THIS WITH ONLY THE 4060 VARIANT!!! HAHAHA** oh, and I added a 4TB nvme inside. so now I have 5TBs of storage, just for an extra 200 bucks. this. device. is. PERFECT FOR ME.

What would you suggest for a writer who wants to game and light video editing? Budget at $3k.. Like I said, I’m mostly a writer and an aspiring creator and I’m having a hard time finding something for my use case.
