80's JVC RC-M70JW boombox made in Japan. Well built one. The sound is loud and clean. I have never done a JVC boombox restoration and mod, so it was really fun to check the inside.
The Bluetooth receiver was added through AUX input. The AUX jack was little different from what I knew. When it is not in use, inside signal pins are shorted. So when I tap into the AUX from inside, first I did not hear any sound. It was a mystery to me until I found out what was going on inside of the AUX jack. For solving the matter, I used shrink wrap to separate them.
When playing the tape, at the first moment it plays slow, then suddenly pick up the correct speed. This is because this boombox has a huge and heavy metal capstan. So like a train when it starts it needs to rotate the heavy capstan, however, once it picks up the speed then it will keep running at the same speed no matter what. This is more like reel to reel tape recorder. I feel very rich feeling when I play tape in this way. So I kept it as is, not doing whatever I could do to manipulate this slow start thing.
By the way, I think I saw a small orb in this film at the 13:46. It might be just the dust reflecting the light, but I want to think it orb that enjoyed music with this old school boombox :-)
