I like the design, but I think that the linear rail and bearing should be on the Y axis - that way there will be less droop when the laser is all the way out.

Hi Ahmad, I love your project. I'd like to build something similar and wondered if you could share any lessons you learned? I like how you've rigged up the y-axis. The typical approach I've seen is to use the wheels for alignment and external pulleys for movement. Your approach to using the wheels as both pulleys and alignment seems crazy clever.

I downloaded the Thingiverse File, but I am having issues with the Scale of the Drawings that you used. The Main Body Part comes out to 5600mm in length. What Scale were you using?

awesome project! now I'm curious if that frame could be used to create a multi-module system, like exchanging the laser head for a 3d print head/tiny cnc head. it would be perfect for on the go lifestyles.

I am not sure about turning it into a 3D printer, but you should be able to mod it to be a pen plotter.

Great project. Looks like a star fighter out of some sci-fi movie. Am I correct in that only the larger 20x40 extrusion needs to be v-slot? I have some t-slot pieces that I was thinking about using for this.

Using vslot better. But with t slot also can. The v wheel will be eat up and will follow the t slot pattern over the time i think

using 12v output for the black and red wire. then use S pin at the ttl pin on the board

Nice job,do you have any info how powerfull laser can i connect on that board,i would like to make cutter and engraver so laser would be around 30-40w NEJE from aliexpress :D

you can connect any laser. for high power laser much better the 12v input directly from power supply and only pwm pin you connect to the board

you can use this software that i use it is call engraver master. www.kysson.com/engraver-master-software/ the arduino you need to flash grbl firmware to the board.
