Kilian Jornet, WOW! you're podcast is always filled with so much knowledge and stories, but coming from a running background and wanting to move into the mountain trail scene very soon this was a gift! Thanks Rich for sharing, and getting the GOAT on to speak with you and be willing to share with the world.

This was hilarious... Rich trying to wrap his head (and ours) around the decisions Kilian makes because he knows himself so well. He knows exactly what he's capable of. He's more capable than anyone on the planet for some things - like recovery... and that is probably the most mind-blowing aspect of this.

and when you look at youtube channels of these big ultra events,they only have few minutes clips.sure they have live coverage but only the hardcores know about that.also they have very limited slots and that is not a good way to promote the sport and the qualification races make it sound like elitist.

Guy Lubovitch on the other hand this way the sport stays pure and protected a bit from the disadvantages a lot of high profile sports have. Like drug scandals (cycling, marathon) or match fixing. These people need to be payed and respected enough but I hope the integrity which comes with this sport stays.

I wonder if he has problems with sleeping because of his insanely low resting heartrate (big heart muscle). I heard about this phenomena with cyclists etc. -- that they get dangerously low heartrates in sleep and that some die from it.

It really depends on what field we are talking about. Yiannis Kouros would be a contender for the GOAT of ultra running. His 24 and 48 hour records still stand and he is still the only person to have run the Spartathon in under 22 hour (which he did on four occasions, he only ran four of them). But Jornet is certainly great at a number of disciplines.
@Mr1998dd

How is this a "podcast" if it's a video? Just call it a goddamn video. The word "podcast" has been so bastardized that I'll bet most people don't even have a clue what it originally meant. And even its original meaning-recorded with an iPod, which haven't been around for what, 20 years?-is meaningless. Oh, I get it-it's cool if it's "podcast" and uncool if it's "video."
