About LYRE:
LYRE is a unique girl group, comprised of three K-pop songwriters and producers: Alina Smith, Elli Moore, and Giselle. LYRE has worked on hit songs such as "Mafia in the Morning" by ITZY, "Giddy" by Kep1er, "Karma" by Blackswan, and "Sweet Juice" by Purple Kiss. Their work has been featured in publications like Forbes Magazine, Billboard Magazine, American Songwriter, and 1883 Magazine.
LYRE first gained recognition in 2022 when they started sharing their unreleased songs on social media. Since then, their KZfaq channel has garnered over 40M views, and they've amassed around 400K followers on their collective social media accounts. Building upon their success, LYRE is now preparing to release a large selection of their favorite works from their songwriting vault.

This was really interesting to me. I am a native English speaker, raised in the West, living in Japan for more than 15 years. I watch a lot of XG reactions, but they are either Western or Japanese. You are the first I have seen that crosses the lines like I do. I liked hearing thoughts about the lyric simplicity. It is so true. For example, when Westerners think Carly Rae Jepsen, they will think of Call Me Maybe first. But in Japan, I really like you is waaaaay bigger, because of that repetition, "I really, really, really, really, really, really like you." Same thing happens with Taylor Swift and We are Never getting back together. Have not been to karaoke in a while, but both songs were in the karaoke top ten for a while. I get it too. When I first came to Japan, one of my favourite songs was Niji by Aqua Times, because they said "Daijoubu" (it's alright) over and over again, and as a Japanese learner that word was easy to pick up. So... very long story short, I appreciate the analysis as someone straddling the two worlds. Good luck with your new vid. It is so cool that you songwrite for Kpop. I wish I could songwrite Jpop. Maybe some day, I will put in that work.

XG is Xpop and this an AZN Global Girl Group….actually serving an International VOGUE techno sound. When I first heard it I knew they were definitely targeting the Global 🎯. I understand what you mean with the lyrics. But it is obviously an house track. House tracks are all about the rythm, lyrics have never really been a strong part of house music. House music is all about moving on the floor. If anything Maya's & Cocona's raps seem overly complex for a house track.

I'm not a songwriter, just an XG fan - the TGIF chants, I think come before a pause, and 'thank god I'm fly' - if the chants are bolder, it overshadows what follows and I think what follows it what they wanted to stand out, the chant was just a setup for that - just my take when I listen

I actually agree with you, when a fan talks about how basic and cringey it sounds, it really is gen z but if you passed by 2000-2010s you can really appreciate it and is super fun coz what's appealing them more are like complex,depressed but cool sounding and super hype if not like this

For me in terms of minimalism I would say XG's 'Tippy Toes', but maybe we have different ideas on minimalism. XG is like my dream gg cause they do RnB & Hip hop music, they just be different from gg that are out now.

That outfits from that first shot are from the Jean Paul Gaultier cyber collection that came out last year. One of my fave lines, then my current fave gg uses it in a song that’s basically a runway/ballroom/club song and I just about flew over the moon. They’re the main characters of a gothic high fashion harajuku space alien princess rave fantasy.

Thank you dearly Alina for the bountiful analysis of TGIF. Pertaining to "Shhhheeeeeeshhhhhh!!" you can hark back to October of 2021 and NCT 127 with there 3rd album repackaging of Favorite from SM Entertainment. Check the 13 second mark of the NCT 127 엔시티 'Favorite (Vampire)' MV and a simple reference of "Shhhheeeeeeshhhhhh!!" is uttered by Taeyong. It's highly likely that several other artists within Korea have already utilized it in tracks but sadly my limited brain can only scrape the surface and recall the aforementioned.

I respect when songwriters (k-pop or not) video maker, producers etc give some input, but this is XG with their Xtraordinary Pop music with RnB HipHop as core music that can create many style of XG music like TGIF mix RnB with House music. XG also have iconic 'witty' lyrics style which is other music (groups) not much do that and that's make me really like XG they're so unique and have 'attitude'.

If I'm correct, the "when I'm with my ladies" part is using the same sample as the chorus in Rocket Punch's Bouncy. But interpolatation... interpolation. Anyways, it came from the Bright Lights Vocal Sample Pack under the name PartyDon'tStop, and here's an example song that uses the original sample as the only lyrics. ngl i was expecting more from them. thank god they have insane visuals because otherwise i would've been SO bored. like it was going somewhere and then it flatlined. and at first i was like, "oh, less than 3 minutes?" but then i was waiting for it to end lol the topline also didn't impress me so.. shooting star remains THAT girl in their discography

Please GOOGLE AVEX JAPAN…look at the list of existing ARTISTS and PREVIOUS ARTISTS. They are a BILLION $$$ CONGLOMERATE and INTERNATIONAL MUSIC is just one FACTION. Look how many KPOP GROUPS and very popular Artists from the US have been under AVEX.
