We’re back with another cam test on Mike’s K20A2 powered Civic EK race car! If you haven't already watched our previous cam test then be sure to check that video out to get up to speed! - • ULTIMATE K-SERIES DROP...
Following on from our first heavily anticipated K-Series drop-in cam test, we've now got our hands on Skunk2 Racing Ultra 1 Camshafts, Pro Series XP Valve Springs, and Titanium Retainers, courtesy of Skunk2 Racing. This enabled us to test this camshaft and compare the results to our last set of tests!
As always, we teamed up with legendary Honda tuner Jesse Halford from J.Cal ECU Calibration to carry out V2 of this test as well as the boys from Motion Motorsport.

I currently have Skunk 2 dic on my fn2 type r. I would like to purchase the Skunk 2 ultra 1 cams. Does the Skunk 2 ultra 1 cam work well with stock compression. Any advise will be appreciated for me to make my choice to keep dic or purchase the Skunk 2 ultra 1.

Please do a comparison between the drag cartel dic vs drag cartel 2.2 cams. This will be very helpful to see the difference in power and torque at each rpm by going stage 2 instead of dic and is it worth the extra money because with stage 2 cams we have to upgrade the valve train.

Only thing missing from the vid is the need to change the single valve spring seat from single to dual valve spring base and need for new stem seals.

Got my dc5 type R with itbs on it now, saving up for some dic’s or some cams, would love to see the power gains . Nice one Tegiwa!!! I order all my stuff from you guys for the dc5 , much love from Johannesburg, South Africa 🇿🇦

@@akramdastager45 dude to be honest I’m not really sure… someone I know says he has skunk ultra 2s with retainers and valve springs, that would be the best as the car already has itbs so that’ll definitely help the car breathe a lot better , but then again it all depends on the amount these things cost

@@akramdastager45 I haven't bought anything as yet, I've got the Rev kit, still deciding on the cam setup to go with... I do have itbs on the car so I'm not sure which to go with... I definitely know that I don't want DIC as it is a little too mild esp for the money, rather get something more aggressive also I'm running a e30 fuel setup with evo 6 injectors

Is the reading 260.4hp for the Skunk2 ultra 1 cams, fly wheel or wheel reading?

If I did SKUNK 2 DICam’s on my K20 would I need to upgrade intake manifold and throttle body? If I did their stage 2 cams would I? I have intake.exhaust,headers - just not sure if I need upgrade manifold or better injectors. Sorry for the questions - newb.

Boy those skunk 2 ultra1 cams would make my k24a2 really come on ... But $1300 us into my canadian dollars $1621 plus tax and shipping would be $$1800 canadian ...makes me think a dry nitrous kit may be better for my poor man budget ..a 50hp shot would put me a bit above the cams .. Great video fellas look forward to more ...

No need for the skunk2 cams if the costs affect u too much. On the K24A and A2 drop in 2001/2003 K20A2 intake cam and the 2006/2008 TSX exhaust cam. Great powerband vtec at 5400 rev out at 8600. (with oil pump conversion ofcourse)

Do you have to degree the motor for these cams? The exhaust camshaft centreline? I bought tuner 2s for my k20 and the power feels like it's dropped even though the number is higher on the dyno at the top

Yes the EK in this video has the K20a2.

So when changing the springs and retainers, you don’t need to remove the crank and timing chain? Did you just release the tensioner?

Love the content... Did you have to raise the compression of the motor to go from Skunk 2 dic to Skunk 2 ultra 1? Please advise because I'm thinking of switching over from my skunk 2 dic to the Skunk 2 ultra 1.

Almost all the websites say that Skunk 2 ultra 1 requires high compression so that's the reason why I'm asking

@@PolishedMobileDetailing503 the k24 has less compression then a k20 so how is it better for a k24? If I'm using them on a k20 what will be the max vtc and at which rpm should I have the vtec position?

@@tegiwa I did email Tegiwa and skunk and no one can give me answer for max vtc and vtec position. I sent one email to Jeremy at drag cartel and replied 40 degrees max vtc for drag cartel 2.2 cams and still don't have any answers for skunk2 ultra 1.

How long should it take a mechanic to Replace the stock cams and value springs?

Anywhere between the 1-2 hour mark for a competent mechanic however thats if everything goes as planned without complications.

Agree gained 25hp going from rb and stock throttlebody to ported rrc 74mm throttlebody and 3inch intake pipe

Jesse mapped my DC5 a month or so ago. Albeit, I have a high compression K24, but we messed about with intake pipes. I had. 3” 90 degree bend on at the start, swapped it out for a 3.5” straight pipe, made 15hp everywhere on the graph. There’s a lot of science behind the intakes, but K Series love short rams. DC5 has more room for the air to escape compare to the EK, I saw a K Swapped EK run a cold air feed from the lower grill up to the filter, apparently massively helped with his heat soak problem.
