We were married in 2018 in the Philippines and lived there for 2 years. I came back before the start of the pandemic and there is a big backlog for Documentary qualified applications at the NVC. USCIS took 8 months to approve our IR1 and NVC took 4 months to get Documentary qualified and we are waiting currently 2 months for a interview however from what I understand the current wait time for a interview at the NVC for an IR1 is 9 months to 1 year due to the pandemic backlog.

My fiance just finished her interview and got accepted. I think it varies to whoever is your interviewer. My fiance's interviewer was completely opposite. He was an old guy, and based on what my fiance told me, he was smiling from the get go and was always giving positive reactions like. wow that's really nice!, That sounds so fun!, etc.

@Jay_ Stack unfortunately they didn't at US Embassy in Ankara! They claimed that they don't have an Arabic speaking consular officer because my fiancée is out of her country of origin, which is Iraq. We have to hire an interpreter out of our pocket.

Congratulations:) You can go to US embassy in Japan website and make your appointment. Once you book your interview, you can print out your booking confirmation info from anywhere you have access to a printer. There should be a bottom that says "PRINT" Also, you have to bring a DS-160 confirmation paper to your interview.

How long have you been waited for your NVC after the approval of your papers from USCIS? Because mine was approved last 11 of March 2021 right now still waiting for NVC

Just tell them the truth! If you talk to each other you can say so and to add some details if you can say how you communicate that's good. If you can't talk to each other maybe give them a reason why like busy with work or time difference or something.

It will be in English, but she can bring an interpreter with her. Embassy does not have an interpreter, so she has to bring one herself.

Base on the information I heard about the class, if only you don't know the language of your fiance.

Not for k1 visa! K1 visa interview is only for non-American fiance. However, once your fiance is in the U.S. and get married. You two have to go to the interview together for his/ her greencard!

Interviews are always in English. Your English speaking ability does not affect the result of the interview but you will be asked questions in English and you need to answer in English as well/

My now wife had her interview in tokyo. She only speaks Spanish. They provided an interpreter. Btw way they hardly asked her anything. Maybe it's because we are older 63/56.
