K110 on 2S power. Maiden flight

This has been a long time coming! had the bits for ages and being at home due to the Covid 19 lockdown it was an excellent time to start into it. A rebuild of my original beaten/thrashed/crashed and retired original XK K110. Dropped a Hisky 100S 2S motor in it and got at least a little air under the rotors. Looks like it will be serious fun but need to sort the main gear!

Just read through this mod on the forums. That thing looks crisp at 60%. I just might have to get another 110 to chop up. Great flying, thanks for the vid, cheers!

Hello, I followed another tutorial and used 12a Flyfun esc. The heli works and everything but falls out of the sky with a gear grinding sound. I think it is the tail motor. Do you think you can use the same tail motor?

Same tail motor is definitely OK if you run a decent quality 5V BEC. My crashes were due to the poor 5V BEC briefly shutting down so the Rx board browned out. @@FlyingboatsRCG thanks for replying. That is the one I ordered. I have this in a UH-1y model, scaled with XK k110 mechanics. With a Flyfun 12a connected straight through to the receiver based on another video I saw. Works but the main motor seizes so I am looking at the RCG setup. For now, I have a second 1s battery powering the receiver and servos. It works ok - 5 min flying time and definitely worth it. I will try the separate voltage regulator when it comes in. Thank you again.

@@chongyim6212 If you have a separate battery for the receiver then it shouldn't brown out. With your setup do you have a connection between the 2S battery negative (black wire) and the 1S battery negative? The main motor ESC signal from the receiver is positive voltage from the 1S battery, so to make a circuit the ESC negative needs to have some connection back to the 1S battery negative.

@@FlyingboatsRCG I basically wired an 1s battery to the B+ and B- power connector (where the voltage regulator in the RCG method usually gets hooked up). The red wire in the throttle cable from the ESC is disconnected. What I found is that with this set up, if I can use a small 150 mah battery, it will take additional load off of the main battery. For scale flying, it gives me longer flight.

@@chongyim6212 Yes that makes sense, but there must be a connection somewhere that links the 2 battery negatives (black wires) together. Actually the signal cable from the receiver should have black and signal wires only -that would do it. I don't know why your motor was stopping..... Is the 2S battery in good condition?

Devo 10 is flashed with Deviation (see www.deviationtx.com/) and radio has been fitted with a 4 in one module (www.banggood.com/CC2500-NRF24L01-A7105-CYRF6936-4-In-1-RF-Module-For-Walkera-Devo-Transmitter-p-1096707.html?akmClientCountry=NZ&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-Yru8rWz6wIVjDgrCh14lQb0EAAYASAAEgLK-vD_BwE&cur_warehouse=CN). The K110's use the Futaba S-FHSS protocol.
