K1600 Audio System Retrofit

Although my garage is painfully cramped (as you can see), the taste of spring got me wrenching. My bike didn't come with an audio system, so here I am retro-fitting an OEM system. As mentioned in the video, I was certainly surprised to see speakers and a satellite radio antenna already installed from the factory-- the only real parts I needed were the head unit, the side buttons and the Blue-tooth antenna.

Hi. Interesting to see how the K1600 comes apart. Should have a 2013 Montego blue GT with 3k miles and audio by this time next month.

I think you are missing the 1 screw, unless my 2012 k1600 gt is different. It's on those 2 black fairing pieces with only 1 screw holding them. You are lucky you found that entire package. I've been watching for some time as mine doesn't have audio and I'd like it. I don't really need it with in helmet sena 50s but I just want the oem functionality of it. I'd buy that package you bought if I saw it on ebay. I'm missing the amp, speakers. Strangely I have the buttons on left fairing. Anyways, nice video. Thanks.

any problems getting the audio unit turned on at the dealer? where was it done if so. planning on doing the same thing you did.

Could you do another videos of the Bluetooth functioning. I have all this but the blue tooth antenna. Idk if I should buy it or not. And how it would function if I do buy it

Hi Chris. Lovely video. I have the 2017 R1200RT and really want the OEM audio system. Do I really need to bring it to the dealer to have it programmed?

Jesuefe Okagbare i am fairly certain you will need to have the dealer “activate” the stereo capability. Additionally you will need to ensure that the bike had the optional wiring done at the factory or you will need to do that as well as installing the head unit

@@kiki231000 I've spent the last few months looking for a dealer in my country that can activate it. Sadly, I've not found anyone who can. Do you by any chance know of an aftermarket system that is compatible?

@@jesuefeokagbare unfortunately I do not. Perhaps the dealer can help you in this.
