The K40 is a usual suspect with non-cranking SLK R170s.

This video shows a K40 in what I believe to be normal start operation, yet the engine will not crank.
The ECU is not authorising the ground to the pulse relay.
The final fix is in Restoration Video 13. Not K40 related.
